No. Nation wide is correct. Feds have no regs about this so it is left to the states. If all states had the same law, but not federally regulated then it is all states laws, which is national but not federal.

Damn, TW is serious tonight. I didn't realize I would start a semantic war. Sorry OP for fucking up your thread.

No problem with me PVT. I just take gun laws/regs as seriously as you guys on here take wheeling. Words mean things and can take/ make a huge change just in order. Just don't want someone not in the know to have misinformation.

None yet. Here to get some help on this.
I appreciate all the help eveyone. I know how firearms and laws can be a polarizing issue but I have found some good stuff. I am so glad I joined this group already. Also has anyone used the tactical seat covers by coverking I believe? (Not sure if that's the correct company) or kings arsenal? They come in camo patterns (military not hunting camo) and have molle loops for med packs/admin pouches/administration pouches. They really look great in the full size trucks I have seen them in. I'm not sure if all that on the back of a seat would eat up the whole cab even in a double cab. I'd love to hear if someone has them. Thanks again everyone!

I don't have them but a friend of mine has those in his jeep. They take up a good amount of space. I would say the pouches sit 3 to 4 inches off the rear of the seat. They do seem durable as hell though.

Without dragging this further off topic, the issues brought up in this thread clearly show how confusing it is for law abiding gun owners to obey local laws.

There is a bill to standardize the law on a federal level:
    https://www.nraila.org/articles/20150212/nra-backs-constitutional-concealed-carry-bill-in-us-senate

That said, OP I think you have your answer on methods to secure a firearm responsibly in your vehicle. It works for my 380 and 9mm and any other small valuable I leave in my truck.

That's what I figured. I keep most of the essential shooter gear on my vest and as cool as those covers are I just don't know what I would put in there that I don't already have in storage or a toolbox.

I am pretty sure various vendors make ceiling racks for Gen ii tacoma to get long arms out of the back window but still accessible.

Personally I drive a with an empty holster on my hip and sidearm in a second holster that lives more or less permanently in the drivers dor map pocket.

Just to add to the other confusion, Ur valid calif dl is a valid cc permit in Alaska, but we are a duty to notify state. So you can fly up, carry concealed legally on Ur ca dl, but get arrested for failing to notify law enforcement that toy are armed. Iirc in ca you have no duty to notify, but probably aren't carrying anyway
