Hi guys, I couldn't find a thread with this but maybe its out there and someone could point the way..Ive had my truck for 11 months and its got 23,438 mls on it, its my daily driver and I use it for towing my 6x10 trailer from orange county, california to salem, new jersey. I was told by another tacoma owner outside the forums to keep the truck out of "overdrive" and take it slow while Im towing up/down hill (my trailer is about 1600lb wet) and I have taken it threw the Sierras and Rockies now twice. I love my truck (first car I've bought) and notice all the little things in the way it accelerates, sounds, starts, and feels every time I get in and begin driving. My question is about a small "nudge" feeling when I slow the truck to a complete stop for a red light or anything for that matter. It doesn't happen all the time but whether its on a cold start or after driving all day its there from time to time..I haven't noticed any hold up between shifts except when Im going downhill but even then its momentary which it has been doing from the start. My last service was about 1500 mls ago and Im heading back out to New Jersey in september so I want to get feedback from learned tacoma folks and not some dealer..Thanks

The slip yoke on the drive shaft likes to jam up and then " slip" and compress when you are stopped. You can drill the yoke and add a grease zerk and it will eliminate it.

The axle wrap causes the slip yolk to bind but the yolk is the part that catches / jams and then releases causing the " bump" feeling. Many other people have discovered this and done the grease zerk add on and solved the problem use the search tool. I did it a few years ago and never experienced the problem again. BTW - it happens on any suspension set up stock leaves or not.

Being a 14 I wouldn't mess with it, but after your leafs start to bow or crack, replacing with a better leaf set up the wrap usually goes away.

I just had my DS replaced, thought it was axle warp but reputable repair shop told me about the yoke problem.
You are right about the zerk fitting this is what the shop told me
he has done more than one replacement and has heard of the shaft snapping.
There is a Toyota service bulletin relating to this.
The replacement shaft is f-ing expensive
there are cheaper replacements but mine was slamming rushed to fix it and i'm doing a long drive this weekend.
Wish I saw this a week ago!!!
