Took the Taco and the kids to "Fairy Lake" up here in Montana. Stopped along the trail for a quick photo. This section was 'smooth' but most of it was a very bumpy ride. No more than 25mph! Lots of up hill on the way in.

Heading back out I used 2nd Gear to reduce the amount of brakes being used. Wow that helped a ton!

The whole drive was worth the view at the top. Fairy Lake - Gallatin National Forest - Montana

Spent the first day of vacation installing my Fold-a-Cover G4 Elite, Curt tow hitch and a locking tailgate handle. Also spent all day assuring my wife that our little DCSB would tow the trailer without problems, which was true. It towed like a champ and having the extra secured storage was very useful.

This is Grover Hot Springs State Park

Not a scenic pic, but I was trying to capture the cover and hitch

We started at under 500ft elevation and ended up at Lake Tahoe at just over 6,200. Used to do the same haul using a 3.3l V-6 Grand Caravan. The little 4-banger kept up to speed just as well as the van and did better in the worst steep and curvy parts due to the RWD. There's one stretch along Highway 50 that has a 35 mph curve as it starts going up a steep grade. You gotta keep as much momentum going as possible or you'll be dogging it for the next few miles. The van always wanted to force the front end out but the truck didn't have that problem. We had four people and food and clothes for a week. Not a real heavy load of gear and we don't use the tanks in the camper. And trust me, I'm not a patient driver. I was passing people going uphill as well as down.
