Currently my 2006 Tacoma access cab is at my local yota dealer waiting for its frame replacement. I am thinking of taking advantage of the free labor and have them install a lift while they have it apart.

I have been looking at the 5100 setup from down south with 885 springs in the front and then a toytec AAL in the rear.

For about 20 bucks more I could just get the toytec kit with the 5100's and the eibach springs for the front. That includes the vendor coupon from here as toytec adds 60 bucks for shipping where DSM does not.

Is there any difference in ride quality between the eibach and the OME 885 coils, or is it about the same? Just wondering what the consensus was either the mixed kit or just the toytec.

Bilstein 5100's w/ Eibach coil overs in front (set at 3" of lift). Front diff drop kit. Extended Bilstein 5100's in the rear. Deaver 2" AAL in rear w/ axle shims. 285 x 75 r 16 Goodyear Duratracks. Wheelers steelies type B, AFE cold air intake. Sway bar delete. All Pro Apex front bumper (rattle canned Rustoleum primer + flat black). Plasti-dipped emblems. Mud flaps removed.
I cant speak to any level of knowledge about the 885's, but I do have the Eibach's and they are a little stiff, but I like them. Keep in mind that its gonna be the spacer that makes it feel stiff if you go for the full 3".

I did my dcsb prerunner with 884s (same specs to 885 just shorter) and dakars in the rear minus 3rd leaf. I did the lift as it was more cost effective than buying the crap factory leafs and insurance was paying. The truck lifted around 2-2.5 inches. Front is considerably stiffer than factory... specially on speed bumps. It just feels like there is not much travel to the front end on speed bumps. But keep in mind that my truck had prerunner suspension with tokico shocks. Dakars are awesome with the 3rd leaf removed. I tried the setup with just the overload leaf removed and it was way too stiff with an unloaded truck. I will never trust the factory leafs again.

Was in the position a few weeks back- ended up going with OME original nitro chargers,885's & a 1/2" top spacer- rides like a Caddy- and looks Great! If you haven't checked out OME its work a look- just my 2 cents-

I just put the full OME kit on my DCLB. Did their full Dakar rear leaf pack. OME Nitrocharger Sport Shocks front and back. And used the OME 887 springs in the front. My understanding is that the 885 and 887's are the same stiffness but the 887 is taller. The 884 is less stiff than the 885 and is meant for access cabs. The 885 is the intended spring for the double cab configuration.

My setup is stiffer than the SR5 4x4 factory setup but rides smooth.

EDIT: Also - make sure you get the 884x specifically as they are reportedly less likely to sag over time.

@OZ-T is the man with the answers on OME though! I may have all my info confused. ;)

I managed 3 & 1/2" of lift up front with my OME nitro charger strut , 885's & 1/2" top spacer- added the toytec diff drop also- ride is great- DCSB 4x4 sport

Thanks for the input everyone. My budget is 500 to 600 that's why I'm eying the mixed kit or the toytec.

I would like to run 285/70/17s but I'm not buying new wheels so its either 265/70/17 or I may try the 255/85/17s

Doubt I'll go with spacers unless I knew I could clear 285s on factory wheels with them.

265/70/17 will clear even with oem suspension. 285/70/17s require trimming and removal of mudflaps. Those pictures are with 265/70/17s with 2-2.5" lift.

They do start to rub a bit around the front bumper on the driver side with Michelin ATs under full steering wheel lock.

Looks good! I ended up pulling the trigger yesterday. I ordered bilsteins all the way around, OME 887 coils, a 2" AAL, and a toytec .25 inch spacer from Wheelers OffRoad.

Now I just have to wait for the parts to arrive and then for the frame to show up at the dealer.
