I had my transmission replaced and now have electrical issues in my truck. (see my other thread WTF is going on with my truck?) My friend said it might be a bad transmission ground strap. I looked for one of these under my truck and could not locate one. Is this missing or does it not exist on a tacoma.

From what I can tell, the FSM ('99 Tacoma) doesn't mention a strap attached to the tranny.
Other than the black battery cable going to the engine block, there are 3
'ground points' under the hood, and 4 in the cab.

thanks. I can readily see two of the three ground points, looking for the third.

    Keep in mind, I have a 2.7.
One on the left inner fender, one on the right, and one that might be hard to see underneath whatever is on the driver-side of your 3.4 (intake manifold maybe?)
