However, when I bought the pickup, I didn't notice that the passenger side door has no keylock. To unlock the passenger side door, I have to climb in the cab, reach across and unlock the door....a real PITA. My wife and I are "Golden Agers" and almost always travel together. After every stop, we have to go through the ritual of unlocking the passenger's door.

Is it possible to install a door handle with a keylock to replace the existing handle? If you look closely, the door handles on both sides are perfectly symmetrical and you would guess that Toyota would make the handles suitable for use on either side to reduce inventory.

I'm guessing that I could go to a junk yard and buy a whole replacement door of'n a wreck but that seems to be pretty extreme. Does anyone care to share your thoughts on a minimal solution? Thanks eversomuchly in advance

SR5? If so, you should be able to obtain the remote and have it programmed.

Kinda late to close the horses after the barn door got out...Whooda've thunk that the door wouldn't come equipped with a keylock Betcha might've upped the cost of the new truck about $0.13 per month on the easy pay plan. You're right...hindsight, etc, etc....Thanks for taking the time to respond

I didn't even know they made a model like this, once in the cab there's a unlock button on the driver side door panel near the window switches (at least in my truck) you can press that and it opens all doors and there's no need to reach/lean over

That's why I asked it if was SR5 as I know there are probably base models out there without the power door locks and windows. I would say it if it is power door locks that it would have the unlock button on the driver side.

No such luck...the only button on the driver's inside door is the button that the opens when the key is used. It's just hard to believe that Toyota wouldn't put a keylock on the passenger side. The dealer is willing to help out...The parts guys will install a keyless entry system for $400 and change. I'm sure that I can buy a whole door at a used parts place for less than that...this just leaves a bad Toyota-ish taste in my mouth...chicken-feces-ish...thanks for your input

$400! That's a little steep in my opinion... Then again it is the dealer.

You can probably get a nice alarm with door lock actuators installed for $400.
