Who knows about PA systems in vehicles? I got mine hooked up but I want it louder. Keep reading I might need an amp between the CB and the Speaker, is there a special amp? Or would any car audio amp work?

Alright total noob for PA systems here how would I use this thing? I think it said it has an RCA plug IIRC that is the standard red/white audio cable, do they make them with a 3.5mm jack on one side? My CB doesn't have the same audio ports a head unit would. I imagine that the 3.5mm jack from the speaker would plug into the Amp? Or does it use speaker wire instead like a lot of the 100w PA speakers (which I'm thinking about picking up anyway) the one I have right now was a 25w cone by Pyle.

For some reason it doesn't seem like 112db though.

it's easy to do, but hard to talk you through it, so I drew a picture.

orange and pink lines are what you currently have going on (power and ground going from the cb to the pa). you need to cut those wires somewhere in the middle (red zig zag line), and splice a coax plugto the cb side of the cut. plug the coax into the amp (choose left or right channel), and then take the pa ends of the cut wires strip the ends, and insert them into the clamp terminals on the amp (in the same channel that you chose for the cb to go into). that will result in the red and black lines shown on the drawing. the only thing not shown on the drawing is power to the amp. it needs 12V power from somewhere. how you accomplish that is up to you. youcan leave the amp on, and hook it up to the IG1 fuse, or you can wire it directly to the battery with a fuse, and manually turn the amp on and off every time with the switch on the amp itself.

oh and chip, I'm sure it's not hitting 112 db. the db rating is going to be at peak amperage, which looks like 25 for yours. I believe most CBs only put out 5 amps from their 3.5mm PA outputs.

Awesome that's actually what I thought was going on. It seems to be just like car audio but not direct plug and play with the wiring.

Wish mine looked like that. I would have no problem at Green Ridge. Like the Tacoma emblem on the doors, which is usually missing on the regular cabs.

same principal as car audio, just slightly different equipment.

    -cut wires
    -strip both sides of cut
-solder male coax plug to upstream end
    -done :)

for something like this, a $15 weller wood burner with a solder tip will be plenty. you can get them in HD and Lowes. you can pick up the blank coax tip at radioshack. you could also just take a stereo coax that you aren't using, and cut it off with some wire still on it, and solder directly to the wires. or for that matter, if you go with the second option, for something like this, you could even use crimp connectors.
