Tacoma, 4 runner or Rav4?

Im deciding between a tacoma, 4 runner or a Rav4.

This will be my wife's vechicle. I drive a 2010 Lancer Evolution. It is tuned and modded. I plan on modding it more. I will be living in Alaska Eielson AFB. We do not have kids but we will in the future(2 or 3 years) we might get dogs and we will need something big enough to carry small things like a grill or car parts . We are short around 5'4 height both of us. We plan on being more outdoor people, like go biking, fishing and hiking.

We want something that is extremely reliable, hence I went towards a toyota. I did have a tacoma 4x4 double cab TRD Sport 2006 LB however I sold it and got my evo. I wish I kept it for my wife. I was stationed in hawaii and it was useless to have a big truck when the park spaces are made for mini coopers. We want the following.

1. Reliability
2. Family oriented
3. Decently priced, probably get a used one of each, possibly a new tacoma or rav4.
4. Possible towing for my Evo. There is a high chance I will have to tow it 350 miles to get tuned and back once a year. (evo weighs roughly 3,500 lbs)
5. Safety
6. Ruggedness. It will be our family car that we take everywhere and we expect it to last 10+ years.
7. Room
8. Mod-ability.. Not mod happy like my Evo. Im leaning towards tacoma/ 4 runner so we can get grill guards/ nerf bars mainly from protection from 800 lb bucks and bad drivers and the deadly shoopping carts.

I think the best choice would be the 4 runner however the price is higher then the tacoma and Rav4. I really want towing but I will probably only use the towing when we are in Alaska because the tune shops are 350 miles away. My wife wants an enclosed top but if we do have a dog or go fishing and biking the interior will be messy which is why I dont want a Rav4 but she wants that. Realistically if I dont need towing Rav4 is the best since we are a small family. 4 Runner might be too big for us and the Tacoma is in the middle (my wife wanted a big truck which is why i first bought the tacoma but it was a bad decision in Hawaii). Im not sure what to get so thats why im asking everyone here. Please help.
