    Hi,

I am new to trucks in general, please be patient. i own a 2001 reg cab 2rz with a manual trans it currently has stock suspension with bilstein hd's and 235/75/15 tires on jeep wheels. I was wondering if any of you could give details on wheel setups that use the same tire size (that fit under factory fenders) width, offset/backspacing, and so forth. Can 15x8s fit with 235s without rubbing or chopping up splash guards? 15x7 0 offset work without modification?

Also, from what i have researched the stock bracket that connects the bottom balljoint on the lca to the hub and tension rod are notoriously weak is this a true statement? ive got some alignment issues to sort and i cant find anything broken could this be the culprit?

    Thanks, Shelley

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Balljoints are a weak link in Tacomas, but if you change them with OEM's and not cheap knockoffs, they hold up pretty well. Not sure how many miles you have, but I've heard of them failing anywhere between 90 and 190k miles and that's usually only on trucks that see a lot of abuse, or are lifted. Although I've never heard of them failing on a 5 lug before, just 4WD and Prerunners.

You're correct on the ball joint bracket. I never broke one but wasn't too abusive of my 5 lug. The cross shafts tend to bend too if you're romping on it. I believe mine had 15x7s with 235/75/15s and it rubbed sometimes, it hits right above where the mud flap mounts first. Wasn't horrible and was only really noticeable with the cab loaded up with 4-5 people.
