    Hey all,

New to the forums. I'm an electrical and computer engineer by trade. I live in Portland, Oregon. I've been addicted to performance cars for the better part of my life, but I grew up in the outdoors; backpacking, fishing, camping, shooting, etc. Usually always within walking distance of a trailhead or gravel road.

Got married about 6 years ago and my wife bought a Honda CR-V soon after. Obviously not the most capable of off-road vehicles, but it gave us the ability to go places we never could with the cars. Needless to say I've been plotting a truck purchase for about the past 3 years, and after buying an older home that constantly needs fixes/remodels, I find it almost a requirement to own a truck.

The Tacoma was my first pick given the reliability, size (I hate driving LARGE vehicles), and features. I was going to buy a 2015 model last year but my promotion at work fell through and I couldn't afford it. Given the resale value in this area, it felt foolish to buy anything but new. Fast forward now, the promotion went through and the 2016 is on the horizon. I might catch a lot of flack for saying it, but I do love the 2016 and will be buying one, so long as the test drive goes well. I've driven a fair number of 2015's, so hopefully not much has changed. Manual transmission is a must for me, so it's kept me from going Dodge/GMC/Chevy/Ford/Nissan.

Hopefully I'll have a new truck to report back with soon. :)
