I purchased a 2013 Tacoma from Hertz Sales. The Tacoma was a rental and someone had smoked in it. The decided to put there cigarette out on the glass of the instrument panel which caused a big melt mark. I found the glass sold for the instrument panel here...

I was wondering if anyone knows how easy it is to just replace the glass and not the entire instrument panel or even if it can be done without replacing the entire instrument panel?

Very easy to replace, the plastic cover over the gauges just clips on. You have to dissemble the dash from the bottom up to remove the shroud that cover the gauges but again it is super easy just a few 10mm bolts and some screws.

Too bad they don't make it in real glass. Seems every car/truck I've owned that plastic gets scratched no matter how hard I try to clean it with care.

a good trick is to polish it out and then put clear or very light window tint film on it. tint film is way more scratch resistant

It is really easy to do, you just have to unscrew the two screws above the cluster, and one screw on the left behind the kick pannel. Pull down the lower plastic, and then you can pull off the plastic around gauges. Then you just unscrew it, pull it out and unplug everything. Here are some instructions w/ pictures: http://www.customtacos.com/tech.old/index.php?article=225 once you get it off, you will see the clips holding the clear plastic onto the gauges, just push the clips out from the back an you're done. I just did this to do the black tape over my TPMS light mod, it takes 15 min at most.

If it's not scratched at the factory, it's probably scratched by the goober who did the PDI. He most likely used the same rag to wipe off the dash and gauge "glass" as he used on the wheels. :D
