I saw a Group Buy, or some vendor on here, that sold a tailgate top rail cover that actually extended and covered the who inner tailgate. Replaces the ridged surface with a flat aluminum. DAnged if I can remember where I saw it. Naturally, it was after I went with the voodoo rail only protector. I like it.

When ever we leave my fenced area there's an ecollar on the dogs. When we hunt they also wear an Astro. I too mostly
use the tone feature. Mine doesn't have vibrate. Augie thought he was going to play with a badger last year and needed
a little "Edison Medicine" to convince him that it wasn't a good idea. How do you like that Alpha. It's on my wish list.

True, but easier to adhere other materials to a flat surface. It was the Relentless one that I saw. But I like the other one you linked.

Fish you could go and get some rubber stall matt from tractor supply or any other ag type store and rig up a way to attach it.

    http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pr...er-1-4-in-thick-sold-by-the-foot?cm_vc=IOPDP1

They also have some that's thicker.
It's 48" wide though, so I'm not sure if it'll work on the tailgate...you might have to get a 5ft piece.

Use the cover as a template and just drill holes in the matt. use fender washers and longer bolts and it'll be secure.

Ha! That was the largest porky I have ever seen and I just had to take a picture. Trying to handle the dog, gun and camera is not smart and I will never do it again. Actually when not eating wood they like to climb under the truck and eat the wiring harness so the truck will not start. But only when your someplace where you don't have cell phone or radio reception and the nearest cabin is more than 10 miles away:(

Good thread not long ago on UJ about porkies. Topic: For all youse guys that shoot porcupines, SHAME ON YOU! gunho had just recently lost his dog to a quilling so is rather emotional in his responses.

That 1/4" stall mat is the first thing I thought of, but TS doesn't carry it anywhere close to me. Amazon has some that is close, but you have to get 4'x5' to get the smallest size that fits and it is expensive there. I like the idea of the bedrug but afraid the cockle burrs will stick to it and the dog will end up with them between the pads being a rug and all. Likely get a universal rubber mat from Dee Zee or ProTecta. For attaching it thinking of using the same system as the bedrug does which is all temp Velcro but it is spendy, but thinking it may be the best way to go. I like the idea of the bedrug tailgate protector but lots of mixed reviews on it and not sure of all the downfalls with a dog using it. Have a friend that used a piece of conveyor belt from the iron ore loading docks and he drilled a bunch of holes in the tailgate to attach it with sheet metal screws. Not really thrilled about drilling into the tailgate, but it does work perfectly for the dogs.

Are they any other ag stores around? Like fleet and farm, etc? That's odd that tractor supply doesn't carry it...it's not on any "shelf" but it's a roll they cut to order.

As far as screwing into the tailgate, thats why I was thinking just get some screw that are longer than the factory ones, and just drill holes in the rubber mat to line up with the current holes in the tailgate. Would probably have to use a fender washer on them.

I absolutely love the Alpha and TT15 collar. With the GLONASS system it adds in the Russian satellites and I can get reception even in the heaviest canopy cover. Fast to recharge although the charging cables are a house of cards and involve several cables and connectors. The charging terminals on the collar are exposed and if you have a second collar and it touches them it will turn it off (WTF?!) so you have to make sure that the terminals are facing back away from the second collar. Other than that I consider it one of the best investments I have made in a long time. The TT15 collar has the option of tone or vibrate also. My oldest dog is deaf and I'm glad now I trained him with the vibrate function although he doesn't go too far now in his old age. But I still like to get him out when I can.

Yeah we have Fleet Farms in Mn. and Farm and Fleets in Wi. across the river, I looked before. They didn't have any rolls either. However I went back to double check after you posted this.... Fleet Farm sells 1/4" 5'x8' stall mat for $50. Same mat on Amazon is $170, and it hit me that with a 5x8 I can do the bed and tailgate too. The Universal tailgate mats are almost $50 alone. I thank you good sir!

5x8 should be just about perfect.

Dang it Tim you cost me even more money with this post . I just ordered the flat tailgate skin from mobtownoffroad. Shipping was high but isn't their fault, almost expect it now days but still hate to have the carriers get that much. On the other hand having a flat surface on the tailgate for the dog to stand and jump on makes it worth it, at least to me, I thank you once again.
