    Not enough...
So I got a roof rack and a Heretic 40" LED bar coming. The bar comes with a regular toggle switch, but I got an AOB switch so it looks nice in the dash. It's been too long since I wired anything other than car stereos and related things in cars. I am looking at the wiring diagram that came with the switch and it does not compute.

So, I understand that it needs a relay and a diode. Have both coming from Amazon and I will just solder the diode inline into the wire and put some shrink tubing over it.

Now, what I don't understand is relay 86 pin going to the high beams. Wat? Why? The two lines of text there make my head explode. I read it 20 times and still don't understand what it's for. Is it supposed to turn on the LED bar when I turn on the high beams? I don't need that, so I just don't connect that?

Another one is the "Blue / Yellow" wire from the Switch Plug. Is that supposed to connect to the dashboard dimmer knob? I know what all those words mean, but I can't make sense of them together.

English is my second language and all, but I think these motherfuckers need to learn to express themselves better...

Can someone explain this to me?

Hopefully someone else can chime in here in case I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not so I'll try to help.

It looks like you have a negative trigger relay. 86 needs to tap into a ground - either something that is always grounded (if you want the light to work regardless of the ignition being on) or something that's grounded when it's turned on (I have no idea where to get that connection). Now I'm 99% sure you don't want to use the diode - it's added to make the relay send a pulse signal v/s a constant power. I'm pretty sure if you connect that diode you'll end up with a flashing light bar.

You could also just go grab a regular +12v relay at an auto parts store, they are a few dollars - with a positive trigger relay you tap 86 into a switched power or constant 12v power wire. The fuse box using an add-a-circuit is the best place but you can use any wire. You can tap switched power (on with ignition) or constant 12v - whichever you want depending on if you want the LED bar to work with the ignition on or not. You also don't have to screw with a diode on a positive relay.

The blue/yellow you connect if you want the switch to light up when you turn your interior lights on (you can tap it to constant 12V and it will light up all the time or something that lights up with the rest of the interior if you want it lit up at night). If you don't hook it up the switch will work, just not light up.
