I've gone through dozens of threads, spent hours searching, and still haven't found EXACTLY what I'm looking for. A buddy of mine has turned over the task of putting his truck together. It's a 2012 Tacoma DCSB Off Road. I installed a leveling kit for him a couple weeks back. That raised the front 2-3/4" and the rear 1". Now it's time for tires. He has the stock Off Road wheels. He's OK with a little trimming of plastic, but not CMC. He's already ordered 1.25" wheel spacers. He wants 285/75/r16 DuraTracs. (It's 100% Mall Crawler....Won't go off the pavement)

OK....I need a look at this combo, and hopefully comments from anyone who is running such. If I did this to MY truck, and there were issues, I'd feel bad. If I do it to someone elses truck, and GET PAID for doing it, I'd probably feel REAL bad if it didn't work to perfection.

I'm doing essentially the same combo on my truck, only with 1-1/2" more lift, a CMC, and the knowledge that if I make a mistake, it's MY truck..... I just don't want to hand him something that he won't be happy with.

So you're looking for a lifted truck, stock 16" OR wheels with 285 duratracs? That's fairly common but you will probably still rub on the cab mount at full lock.

That's the combo. Are you talking rubbing the cab mount in "on the road" conditions, or off road? How close a call is it? No personal experience with this set up.

As I mentioned, I'm hoping to find someone who's actually running this combo and has "hands on" experience with it.

I ran the same lift, same tire size and same wheel setup and it rubbed on the street at full lock in reverse.

OK...Now we're getting somewhere! I'm having a hard time convincing my buddy that we need to take a sawzall to the best vehicle he's ever owned.

You don't have to do a CMC, it won't hurt the tires to rub a little in reverse it just sounds kind of .. whack I guess. You could also go with 255/85 and not rub at all if you flatten the pinch weld.

The owner of the truck says that a couple people he knows just took a BFH and dented the cab mount in a bit where it rubbed. Personally, I'm more hesitant to start wailing on the cab with a hammer than I would be to saw and weld on it. I guess if he's OK with it and he's the one PAYING for this, I shouldn't feel so inhibited, but I just hate charging someone for a job that in my opinion isn't quite right.
