Can the bolt holding the top half of the uniball be loosened or taken out with the truck just sitting on the ground without the uca coming off. The reason I'm asking is cuz I forgot to locktite the bolt although it doesn't seem like it's gonna loosen, been checkin it a lot. Appreciate any knowledge on this subject. Thx

I believe you can loosen and remove the nut to put on locktite. No need to remove the bolt, which I wouldn't do unless on stands.

Anyone else? Just in case I'm wrong?

If u jack it up I think the weight might pull the uca out of the spindle. I think just leaving it on the ground would be better. One guy on the site said u don't need to locktite it, just check it once in a while. Mine have not loosened at all over 2 months.

When I received my Icon UCAs, they came with blue Loctite. I emailed Icon. They said it was supposed to be red loctite. I didn't want to wait so I assembled it with the blue loctite. Later, I removed the bolt without jacking up the truck. I put a bungy cord over the UCA in case it tried to rise. It stayed down. No problem.

    Hey,

Few questions for you with Icon UCA. This week-end i have swap from my unibal TC UCA to the ICON UCA. The ball on my TC is needing to change and i like being to put a cap on the ball with the Icon design.

During the installation, i've seen few things different from the TC installation. Just to see if it was the same thing with your installation:
1- The sleeves for the long bolt were shorter than the total width assembly with the bushing!
2- It was very very difficult to install the third washer when puting the UCA bolt. Distance pivot to pivot was to short and i had to pry open the UCA.
3- The ball on the UCA was very very stiff, very difficult to rotate. After the installation, the steering Wheel is hard to turn and not coming back easily in position probably cause the rotation of the spindle and the ball.

I'm not really worry cause parts will set up but was curious to see if you experiment the same problems.

1 . The bushings stuck out from the sleeves. There is a lip on the bushings that seated against the sleeves.

    2. It took some force to get both inside washers in. Passenger side was harder.

    3. I experienced the same thing.

    Thanks for the feedback.

For me the driver side was harder.

Do yall know if it makes a difference if you put the bolt through the otherside? For me it was nearly impossible to get the passenger side bolt out so I just put it through the otherside when installing the Icon UCA.

Some guys put it in from the other direction. The only thing I can think of is if the nut falls off then gravity could pull the bolt out. A little blue locktite will take care of that.
