What's That Noise?

Hi there! I was hoping maybe someone out here could help me identify a weird noise my truck keeps making.. I have a '96 Toyota Tacoma SR5 3.4L and whenever I go to stop quickly, go over speed bumps or put the truck in drive from reverse, it makes a loud pop sound that seems to be somewhere in the front of the truck. I took the truck in to have its brakes looked at about three months ago. When the guy took the tires off, he said there was a little play with the left outer tie rode and I should get it replaced soon. (This is what we thought the noise was.) After my dad replaced BOTH left inner and outer tie rode (he also replaced my rack & pinion because it was leaking) the noise is still there! It doesn't happen as much as it used to but it still happens every now and again. Does anyone know what this may be?
