The only thread that rivals this thread on TW is the "Tacos in scenic places" but even that falls short. Top 3 threads:

    1. Truck Camping Photo Thread
    2. Let's see your Taco's in scenic places
    3. Show me your shell!!

First shot is near Stampede Pass over Lost Lake and the others are from Little Kachess Lake. Generally the same area off i90 between Snoqualmie Pass and Easton.

Igor, I'm thinking of hitting up to Big Sur this coming up Labor Day, what campsite is this? I'm thinking doing Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd 1 night and 1 night in a campground but just the walk up type. Too late for any reservation.

This is Riverside Campground & Cabins. Upper half is better. Site #44 we stayed at was the best and most secluded which just one other site right below us.

However, I think you are SOL for the labor day in Big Sur. It will be pretty much impossible to find the spot. That's a big camping weekend and I am pretty sure everything was booked a year in advance, plus its equally accessible from LA and SF, so you get double the crowds. Your chances will be better if you don't have a dog. They are usually not allowed in cabins. Call every single one. People cancel all the time. I got our spot by accidentally dialing the same campground the 2nd time and dude said that right after i spoke to him first time someone called and cancelled.

I think your best bet to camp in the woods on labor day would be Idyllwild (check out Dark Canyon camp ground. Not too many people know about it, and the ones that don't just drive past it because the turn is hard to see. No camp fires at the moment, unfortunately), Mammoth or Tahoe area if you really want to get away.

Here is a quick trip I went on with my youngest daughter back in May. We visited Desert View Tower before descending into lower Anza-Borrego to camp for the day.

First we stopped in Jacumba to play sand castle in dirt.
    DSCN0025_f2e100cdf50316762792110cce153b7ae934e6cb.jpg

Spotted CBP doing drone surveillance of Int'l border.
    DSCN0053%25257E01_58d308a3a5dbe57b6c305f90639ce0ed74ffc4f3.jpg

And the CBP's permanently positioned Ford F-450 flatbed, on top of Table Mountain, with its GE million dollar sensor pointed at border fence.

We went to the tower and then had lunch there

Finally went down to lower Anza-Borrego and setup camp near some mesquite trees.

Cool pics @Crom that table mountain scope is what we call our (MSC) Mobile Surveillance Capability System with all the badass FLIR equipment! It's definitely in the top 3 reasons why I love my job  It can auto lock onto a group and track them hands free using the camera and radar while I send coords to agents on the ground. Worth every penny! Hunters typically wait at the bottom of the hill ask if we noticed any big game in the area haha
