Picked up my 15 4x4 Tacoma today. The truck itself fits in my garage easily but the radio antenna is by far the highest point and scrapes my garage door and ceiling on the way in.

I can't deal with that and unscrewed the antenna it for now.

I would think this is a common problem for regular size garages.

A friend told me there are shorter antenna's available but the reception is very poor. Any of you have knowledge of a good shorter alternative antenna?

There are many sizes available. The taller, the better reception you are going to get. I would measure the tallest antenna you can fit without touching the garage door and shop for that size.

I tried the most common one on ebay and it was not a good one. If you are sitting still, the reception is ok, but driving, loses stations very close to me. Save your money on the ebay ones from China. Mine was $5. Wasted 5 bucks.

Before all these aftermarket stubbies came out, the S2000 antenna was the ticket.

I took some small bolt cutters and cut mine off level with the roof. No garage rub, great reception. Spent the money I saved on some beer.

Oh yeah. I picked up a snazzy alien head antenna ball on my last trip through Roswell to top it off.
