    Hello All,

I recently did the frame inspection and the results are I'm getting a new frame on Toyota of coarse. Also getting new leaf springs and lower control arms. I'm posting this thread to get input on other things i should replace, while it is getting done. Service manager said he would install it with no charge if hes taking it off anyway. I want to add a lift for future 33s and a better ride suspension. What else can i change out since they are taking it all off anyway

    I was thinking

    1. add a leaf ( since im getting new leaf springs anyway)
    2. upper arms (maybe total chaos )
    3. front springs. (icons or fox)

what are your goals? just to fit 33" tires? is your truck a 4x4 or a 2x4?

They may charge you labor for changing front coil springs or if you give them struts and springs, they don't need to disassemble your front coil overs to do the frame

Anchor - how is the ride with OME setup? stiff? is that your set up?
presto- couple goals in mind. Looking for a better ride that is not as stiff as TRD stock suspension. Also the free labor so trying to replace as much as possible, since i have the opportunity. But still have a budget of 5k in mind for wheels, tires, suspension and whatever else to make the driving experience even better.

HnM - good point. didnt think of that. Thought they would have to dissemble it to remove the UCA and LCA. Kind of new to the modding of a tacoma , so bare with me :)

If you were to give them complete fronts already assembled( struts, springs, mounts) they should put them in for no charge

That's what I was thinkin too. Only thing I'm worried about is your goal of the suspension. Someone else can maybe chime in but I think most people end up with a little stiffer ride in the end but I have no idea how the TRD shocks handle because I just had the stock ones in.

If it were my truck and I were getting a brand new frame I would go with dakar/OME leafs + OME front coilovers + 5150 billy rear shocks + camburg or TC UCAs(not 100% needed but nice 4 alignment), you could get it from wheelers offroad and have them assemble the front struts before hand so Toyota wouldn't charge you (wheelers will charge you though).

When I put my toytec coilovers in I did need UCAs because my stock ones were actually hitting the coils.. There are a few other miscellaneous things you will need: 3 or 4 degree axle shims + BPV bracket (BAMF). Might also want SS extended brake lines but might not be needed.

That would leave you enough for some nice rims + tires (I like SCS aka stealth custom series specifically the f5's)

Might even have enough left over for a plate/tube bumper if that's what you wanted..

you could go icons up front too.. Those would definitely put a dent in the budget though. I've heard people like the ride from icons a lot..

Ever have a time period in your life when everything seems to be breaking or needs to be replace. LOL:yay:. Well nonetheless sorry for the late reply. I'm happy now i can concentrate on my taco.

Presto, I appreciate your input. You gave me much needed input on things I would never of thought of such as 3 or 4 degree axle shims + BPV bracket (BAMF). I was also looking at the BOSS set up from toyotec. How do the BOSS coilovers ride on your taco? Oh and I do like SCS Rims, those look bad a$$.

Do you think a diff drop is needed?

Any real difference between Total Chaos and camburg? Why is Total Chaos so much more?

No problem bro, they are alright. However in hindsight I would probably have gone with kings or ADS up front. I've been reading a lot of good things about ADS coilovers and Alcan leafs. Might want to look into those, pretty pricey though I think..

Diff drops have pretty mixed reviews on here, I personally have one but honestly didn't notice any difference when I got them on.

I forget why I went with TC over camburg lol.. I'm sure either one would work fine. I haven't heard many bad reviews on any aftermarket UCAs anymore(haven't been looking recently though) Light racing used to have an issue a while back but they fixed it..

Just wanted to give a update. Got my frame replaced without any issues. Toyota did a excellent job. Supplied me with a 2015 Tundra as a loaner for 3 weeks. On top of that replace all brake lines, LCAs, and Leafs for free, but they did charge me 200 in labor for all the installation. Parts I decided to go with are icon coilovers with remote res up front, TC UCA, Icon Add a leafs, icon rear res shocks, toyo dif drop, Wheelers bump stops, and extended brake lines. Got SCS F5 Gunmetal rims. Only thing now is tires. Thinking BFG KO2 or Goodyear Duratrac at size 285/75/16? What do you guys think.
