I'm new to Toyota, but I love this Tacoma. It's a 1996 DX 4x4 with 3RZFE enigne. It is high mileage, 225,000, properly rebuilt around 20K miles ago. No leaks or ticks or oil consumption. I just changed the oil and filter. I used a Motorcraft filter(we've all seen the filter cutaways, no Fram for me!) and Castrol 5W-30 oil. I've been doing lots of reading. These are awesome trucks, this one fits my needs, perfectly. I do some hunting and fishing, but no hard-core off-roading. I used to have 1966 VW baja buggy with 1835cc, 40mm Weber, Engle 110 cam, close ratio 3rd and 4th gears with a 4.86:1 diff. That was back in my high school days, I'm 47, now. Different needs for different times. I like to do my own preventative maintenance and minor repairs. I'm not incompetent, just lacking info on these trucks. This awesome forum did provide the shop manual. I purchased a Haynes manual. I'll be around here, for sure.
