Going to replace the idler pulley on a 2TR-FE. During my search there were ones where the pulley was steel like oem and then there are others that were plastic. I am tempted to go plastic since it is lighter and transmits less heat, but what do you guys think?

I would never use an aftermarket plastic pulley on an engine's belt assembly.... YMMV

Are you starting to get issues with pulley weight/heat on your engine?

Well, my truck only has 65k miles, which I think is too soon for the idler pulley to start going out. I figured perhaps I may get better results with the plastic.

Metal. You're not going to save anything by going plastic. No weight savings, no heat savings.

Oh and i had to replace my uppers at 35k.
