Besides the stock immobilizer have you added an aftermarket security system to your taco? If so, what do you have. If not, why?

None on mine but I'm considering it. I have a Viper on my Camaro with all the doodads - tilt sensor, glass break sensor, ignition kill, RF proximity sensor...

I don't have one. To me they are more trouble than they are worth. I hate it when alarms go off in a parking lot because sensor is too sensitive or faulty. Few people pay attention the alarm sound / horn anymore. Plus, I don't want anybody hacking into the wiring on my truck to install the alarm. I don't know if any are plug and play.

I have a viper on mine w shock, perimeter, and glass sensor. I had it professionally installed, was pretty inexpensive to install. One thing to note on viper alarms, there is no secondary unlock feature, so you have to choose to either have it unlock the driver door or all doors when you hit the disarm button. What I did to get around this is to have them wire the secondary unlock to the aux button on the remote. Other than that it is a pretty good alarm. I really like the glass and perimeter sensor. Also a nice blue flashing light that comes on at night.

I have silent alarm which pages me on my cell phone and sends video feed from my dash cam to my cell phone at which time the police have been called and doors have been locked and can not be unlocked from the inside and you are trapped in the truck with jr picture taken at the same time .

    Cheers

Had a Viper Alarm-Remote start installed several months ago. Last weekend I took my truck to the dealership because the electric side view mirrors wouldn't adjust. Was charged $54 to reconnect some wires that were disconnected during installation of the Viper. Have also noticed the parking lights that would turn on when remote started no longer come on.

What kind of Alarm is this? Is this a custom set up you put together or can it be bought as a package?

I got suckered into the KARR alarm that was pre installed at the dealer. "We'll uninstall it if you really don't want it"
It's been fine though, hassle free, and gives off a bright blue flashing light at night. That's gotta be secure ;)

I've told some locals here have gotten tickets for them as it's technically a blue flashing light on a vehicle but I heard they started ticketing less. Any word on the landscape in Cali?
