the trick is to use 3 coil spring compressors instead of the usual 2, even with cheep pepboys compressors i have changed out springs a good 6 times never had a problem and they only bent slightly haha

Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but there is a great video on YouTube. It shows how to diassemble the coil springs on the truck. Much safer than spring compressors and cheaper than paying somebody else. Less downtime too. Look up Tacoma spring removal, I think it is.

I have a buddy who lent me a set of spring compressors, I just hope they are good enough to do the job. Any thoughts ImageUploadedByTapatalk1371664316.883678.jpg

Ok I'll give it a go, I'll hold onto the spring compressors as a backup plan. Thanks for the post

I would say if everything goes smooth it is like 1 1/2 to 2 hour job.

Dang that's cool, I was anticipating 4 or more hours using the spring compressor, I like this method, out and in. It will prob take me longer to do the aal in the rear.

To save you from utter Frustration from AAL install cause they flat out sux to install. Go to your local hardware store and match up the centering pin with grade 8 nuts/bolts. Ditch the one they give you cause the threads get all jack up.

no problem make sure you have few C-Lamps laying around to squeeze the leaf together. Also if you have some tall jacks and couple jacks.

I know this is old, but this might just save me some time.

Does anyone know if I can use this method with the 2.5" lift setting?

I did mine myself at my college auto shop. We have a professional spring compressor. i tried an O'reilly's special first and it would've killed someone. Thanks god for college. I also added Camburg UCA's. That was a pain!
