I had the PL5500 before, bolt codeable lock and the power lock. But it got irritating cause everytime you open all the doors that thing would open up to. So I took that solenoid off and just stuck to manual lock. Oh and ever seen a tailgate pop open by itself, i did that mod too ;):D

Yes I chose the remote start option. It also locks and unlocks the doors as well making it a benefit for na keiki. A neat trick of the remote start is during the day it will trigger the parking lights but at night it'll fire up all the lights. I opted not to get the smart phone option because it costs an additional monthly service fee. I feel with the ABUNDANCE of Tacomas out there a robust alarm will deter most thieves from stealing yours and force them onto another unprotected prey. Meth heads don't count being as half their brain is swiss cheese.....

SAE #20 clamp. This clamp is for diameters of 3/4" to 1 3/4"
IIRC, at O'Reillys, the clamp will have a yellow key.

If these guys are walking around with sockets or screwdrivers to steal your tailgate, then they are probably smart enough to head down to orileys and carry around the key as well.. lol.. I think any type of deterant is what you want... if it takes them more than a minute to grab, then I think they'll move on..

That is true, If they want it, they'll find a way to get it. But if it does take a some time to get, they'll probably move on. In actuality, anything you add on that makes it harder and longer to take off would probably do the job of deterring most from stealing your stuff.

I just copied @squint0241 and got the automated one to hook up with the passenger lock to avoiding actuating it when driving solo. Hope it still lasts a long time. I think the feature is pretty neat.
