Heh... I love lectures from know-it-alls because my dog has balls. People go out of their way to offer their unsolicited opinion.

Yeah I hear that way too often IMO. A lot of people out there drink the Kool Aid of HSUS and can't think on their own.

Posted pics of him before, but this is Chance. He's just completed the Georgia Paddler's club trip with us (paddle at 6 state parks, get a t-shirt). He's a rescue that we adopted at about 11 months old. Been a great dog. Only thing I wish I could help him with, is he's terrified of thunder. Won't go take a leak when it's thundering outside. Any of you have any training ideas on how to get him through that?

Showed this pic to my girlfriend. Awww, he has a heart on his butt. Nothing about the scenery or the kayak. She noticed his butt.

Get some high value treats-like one of those sausage log thingies from Natural Balance. When it starts to thunder out, grab some of it and feed him as soon as you hear a thunder clap. Once he learns that thunder = food, it'll be a bit easier. He may always be afraid of loud noises but that might also help alleviate the fear by changing his focus. Doing obedience work with the treats is also something to try.

Found this on the 'net a while ago... "they" say get a recording of thunder and play it. Low at first, to where he doesn't react. Then gradually increase the volume as he gets used to it. :notsure: if it works though... Good luck.

    Nice gate.
