So I recently installed a URD short shift kit on my '15 Tacoma which I'm happy with (no more boat rowing to get into 3rd and 5th) and ordered a grey TRD shift knob (undecided on whether that massive knob will stay or go) but now that the long stock shift knob is gone, there's a gap between the chrome end-cap of the boot and the shifter. Anyone have a solution on how to cap that cleanly without just painting the louvered chrome cap a black that matches the now exposed shift rod?

Black rubber washer? One underneath to hold it up, and maybe another on top to block the chome?

5100's all around with OME 884 at 0. Weathertechs, Carhartt seat covers. BFG KO2's 265/70/17. T4R SEMA wheels. 18% tint on front windows. General Springs HD 4 leaf pack, Leer 100 XR shell.
Saw someone cut a piece of black tubing or pipe to the length between the ball and the boot with a rubber washer on each end it looked good. the tubing was thicker than the shifter and made it look more like it was stock.

I got a sink gasket at Lowe's and superglued it on the ugly chrome piece.

I bought a washer and a small pipe, and put it over the shifter, under the knob. I painted them both black as well to blend in. I can post a pic in a hour or two.

    Edit:
    Here is the pic:

If you want me to get a better one, let me know, as I was trying to get the shift knob more than the cover I made.
