hell yes it is. 6 lug extra cab or double cab only the same size as a first gen Tundra.. compared to the small pickups of pre 2005..

You and I have vastly different ideas on the concept of "big ass."

It's for people who like to rev high pretending they are racing but go nowhere

It makes around half the power of the V6 and gets about the same mileage (I think the 4x4 actually gets better mileage on the 6). I'm not surprised the 4banger isn't being talked about. I'm not even sure what the point of it is...

159hp pushing 4500lbs is not what you call "potent". If all you have to is bomb around town on flat roads, maybe this is your baby. I personally hate not being able to maintain speed going up an incline or even losing speed.

Exactly. I don't get the point of the 4banger in this truck. Makes no sense to me.

Doesn't keeping the revs high and constantly shifting gears make you feel like a racer?

No, but it makes me feel like a cheapskate because I didn't buy the 1200 dollar better motor with twice the HP and better MPG's.. I also feel sad because the engines screaming and I'm not going any faster... just making it.. slow and steady.. tortoise wins the race.. an old lady in a civic just flipped me off... F*** you too grandma!

But in all honesty, the 2TR-FE is an amazing engine. Thus, it deserves this meme:

How is it an amazing engine when it makes almost half the power and gets around the same, or in some cases, worse mileage than the v6? lol

Speed isn't a factor. The V6 and I4 will both to 100 MPH.. maybe you meant acceleration?

I would comfortably guess I see 40 Tacoma's a day and I'd bet 90% are 2.7 I4 autos, because every company that needs a fleet truck doesn't give care about trim levels and upgrades, they want a base RC or a base AC. Mileage and longevity mean just as much (or more) to some than acceleration and internet pride.

Maybe it depends on the area. I probably see about the amount per day and almost all of them are TRDs.

What I mean is that it can be a daily driver, go off road, and still be able to exert reasonable power for many drivers.

I'm certainly not knocking the engine for reliability, because it will go forever. It's just the annoyance of being gutless. It's not the engines fault though. Just the chubby truck they dropped it into.

My first 2 Tacos had the 2.7 engine. I never wanted for power. I really enjoyed the 2nd one with that engine and the 5 speed. In fact, as much as I love my Prerunner auto, I really miss my base, 2.7L, manual.

I really liked my 4cyl tacoma. I regret selling it. It was very reliable truck.

Fair enough. I have a 4 in my current Frontier and it's been surprisingly good, so I'm definitely not anti 4banger. lol
