How bad is the economy going to hit the fan

    The highest gas price I've ever seen locally is $1.4999 per litre. It was insane but oil was over $100 a barrel and two refineries shut down to drive that price.

    Now oil is $40 a barrel and the refinery shut down occured over 500 miles from here in Illinois where none of our gas comes from and the price is $1.209. This winter the price was 79.9 cents per liter when oil was $70 a barrel.

    Something not right is going on.

    I think that in the same news report that I saw concerning the gas price spike in the Prairies it said that mid west US state prices had gone up by a similar increase too , maybe connected by a shared distribution set up ?

    Yes, some distribution goes into Manitoba from that plant, but even that is 500 miles away. Not to mention prices in Montana have barely moved...

    I think there's a lot of trying to recoup some profits somehow going on by the oil companies

    The Chinese production slowdown should drive energy costs and building materials down even more. The only benefit is that it's making US Bonds more desirable.
