    UPDATED WITH INFO:

For those of you experiencing this problem with your Scosche mount, I managed to resolve all of my issues by removing the green / yellow clips from the stock head unit. The clips are on the mounting posts (three along the top, two at the bottom), and can be removed easily with a pocket knife. Once removed add them to the corresponding posts on the new Scosche mount.

I don't recall this being in the included instructions, so I'm sure lots of folks have made the same mistake.

    Absolutely massive fit improvement.

    Hi All,

So I picked up the Scosche Double DIN adapter to fit an AppRadio 4 into my 2011 Tacoma. Everything about the new set-up is great, except that the fit of the adapter against my dash isn't exactly snug.

If I go over bumps the unit will move up and down independently of the rest of the dash. There's also a relatively small, but still noticeable gap along the sides of the adapter.

I'm wondering if anybody has any tips for securing a mount like this so that it's more snug.

I'm also curious if anybody has taken a Dremel to the baffles behind the head-unit as I think part of my problem may be a lack of space given the large amounts of wiring behind the head-unit. Would cutting them out for some more room to play with be a good idea?

Finally, if anybody has a recommendation for a better adapter kit I'd be interested in hearing about that too.

    Thanks!

yah thats common mine is like that too, i used some gorilla glue to make sure everything is snug but the problem lies that the "adapter" they send for the kits are entirely mass produced for 100000 different types of vehicles, the real solution for this would be for someone to make a metal adapter plate for these trucks for a generic double din. that would solve the flexing issue that is inherent within the plastic framing

I wonder if there'd be a way to adapt the metal frame from the OEM stereo mount to work with the aftermarket one...

Maybe use the OEM clips for a tighter fit, instead of the clips supplied with the dash kit?

I used the metal brackets from my factory radio.

    PROBLEM SOLVED!

I took the greenish / yellow clips off of the stock HU mount and used them on the Scosche and the new HU now fits like a glove. These clips come off of the posts that are used to locate and secure the mount. If you don't use these clips they're almost completely useless. No need for the metal brackets, the HU is rock solid now.

Haha - I may have been too excited to get this thing installed...

Also, I'm not sure that this was in the instructions, but I'm totally prepared to be corrected when somebody inevitably posts a photo of the instructions.
