Ok, so I get my truck back, but noticed a black chain hanging down through the rim of the spare tire. I do not remember seeing that before.
Is it something added with the recall?
Did they forget to take of one of their working chains??
    Any thoughts
    Barry

That's your new spare tire lowering chain. It replaces the steel cable.

It should be on the printout they gave you as "Carrier Spare", or something similar.

Yeah, I pulled it down and found that out..thanks, what have people been doing with the excess that hangs down, should I try to have it rest on the tire's rim?? With the tire all the way up, the rest of the chain hung down

it just dangles under there on my '15 (as it did on my '92 before rusting in place). I sprayed the new chain and that mechanism with Fluid Film to try to prevent rust. It's super exposed to salt spray.
