Hey all, I blew out a tire the other day and am needed to purchase some new ones. I am looking at upgrading my wheels from 14x6j to probably at least 15x6j (preferably alloy) for more purchasing options because it seems that the 14in diameter is phasing out of the marketplace. I wanted to know what any of you all suggest upon this matter? Such as if i might be able to use wheels from another Toyota vehicle. I am not sure what type of offset I have, but it looks to be more inset from the center. My tacoma is 1999 2wd XC that is completely stock. And my $$ budget is on the low end. Thanks.

I know I've seen a 5 lug with highlander wheels, your truck has a 5x4.5 inch bolt pattern. It's pretty common, most jeeps use it. Both my trailers have the same pattern too. You can play around with offset and backspacing, those #s don't need to match perfectly. I got black steel cragars from Jeggs for about $50 apiece when I got wheels.

My sister brought her truck to a tire shop and had them put the biggest tires possible on it. It looks a lot better, but they're heavier and it shows. Its a 2nd gen auto though.

when I had my 5 lug I was certain the best donors would be from camry or corolla the wheel numbers "seamed" to match exactly and I was told they should be a good fit but only trying them on would tell for sure if there was enough caliper clearance for them to fit.

in the end, I decided to keep my steel 14" because they got the best gas mileage and were cheaper tires

looks like it had decent tread. was the tire low prior to failure? I ask cause a sidewall blowout is usually running long distances with a low tire...if you are really on the cheap, get one used same size tire for now so you can move, then work on getting rims and tires, that way you can experiment with 15 inch rims to see the fit and clearance, you might be able to find a set on the cheap, then go for tires...

yep, that's definitely a low air pressure, side wall blowout, maybe you picked up a nail somewhere

not saying to buy these but, look at something like these which could be usable options:

or get a set of these and just slap a set of fake mag hubcaps on them, they are super easy to keep clean and no worries about the wheels being stolen

I have a 98 regular cab 2wd and it has 15" wheels on it. Don't know if it came like that from factory but what I did notice was that the hub center bore on it is 67.1 and the rims fit on it nice and tight. This puts the load on the hub instead of the studs. I don't think a small sedan will have such a big bore but your truck might be different, just keep that in mind as well. I'm looking for a spare rim to replace the temporary rim that came with the truck. I rather have a full spare.
