got my truck back after frame replacement on Saturday.
Dropped truck off Wednesday afternoon, and was done Friday morning.
Day after I picked up,took a ride and engaged 4wd to get up my hill.
No 4wd. I did not have time to call.
A few days later, today,I got tech on phone that explained the 4wd actuator sometimes freezes up,especially when not used for long periods of time. I explained I use 4wd all the time, all year long.
    Strike 1.
So I go to pull my truck out to examine actuator,no start.
    Strike 2.
    Called dealer.getting some resistance,but we'll see.
So... My question is, truck started fine every time before dealer got their hands on it.
I get the dreaded clicks when trying to crank.
Battery may be 5 years old,and is showing 11.75 volts at rest.
Shouldn't the battery be able to crank, and what are your thoughts on the timing? Battery drain?

11.75 is discharged, and even then, voltage at rest tells you very little. Have the battery load tested. Then look into the 4wd issue after.

11.75 would be very low at rest. Hold the meter leads on it and have someone attempt to start the truck. I'll bet that the voltage drops to near zero when it loads up. If so at 5 years old I would suspect a worn out battery to begin with, Not the dealers fault or problem. Just a coincidence.

    And the 4wd? Coincidence also?

Maybe, maybe not. I'd start by checking all the connections at the transfer case actuator and ADD actuator, make sure everything is plugged in tight and no corrosion within the plugs. After the starting issue is resolved.

I think they turned your 4WD in to a pee runner. I guess the only logical next step is to go LT.

I'm almost willing to bet that if you replace your battery, all will be fine. Test it first though, as the truck wasn't run much due to the frame replacement, and could be just a low battery. But after 5 years, most likely you need a new one.

One day? I just assumed from reading other's experiences that it took weeks. So yes, check ground connections, but my hunch about the battery still stands. 11.75 volts = insufficient.

Exactly... I did the same. Battery was perfectly fine with no signs of wear. After 5 years and winter approaching...I got a new one.

    Update.
I trickle charged the battery at 2 amps overnight.
Volts started at 11.75, was 12.65 after charge.
    Truck started right up.
After sitting for a day,12.33. Started right up.
    While cranking,10.35.
Thoughts on the battery,or the discharge rate would be appreciated.
My concern is no problem before dealer got a hold of it,and now there is a short causing discharge.

Hint: The Battery is 5 years old. Well past the normal expected life. It is not the dealers fault no matter how much you would like it to be. Replace it or you will end up stranded somewhere.

    Yes ding. Thank you.
I also checked for discharge by removing my negative battery cable, set my multimeter to 10 amps DC,touching the meter's positive lead to the disconnected negative cable,& the meter's negative lead to the battery's negative terminal.
It should not read anything over 50 milliamps.
If it does you have parasitic draw.
Mine read .01, so it appears I'm ok.
After sitting for 2 days, the battery seams to be holding @ 12.33.
I'm going to let it sit for another 3 and see what it reads then.
I think the battery was drawing somehow when the techs were working on my truck.

    Well here's the latest.
Battery is holding charge. They must of drained it when working on it.
Looked over all wires, connections. All looks good.
    Met with service manager today.
He said they will make good on looking at 4wd next Wednesday.
    I'll keep u informed.

    Here is the final.
Took truck back to dealer yesterday.
It was the front dif actuator.
They replaced it free of charge.
I highly recco the dealer, freedom Toyota of Harrisburg,pa.
    They did right by me.
The truck is tighter & cleaner than when I brought it in.
By the way, battery is doing fine.
