Lower "rate", lower payments, opportunity to buy more vehicle than I can afford. I put $5k down and I have $3200 left for the lift, wheels and proper tires. I'll end up buying the truck in two years at $27k and it'll be worth around $32k. I couldn't find a decent used one with under 60k miles for a decent price. The debate should end at "money factor." I started asking for advice but now I have a truck in my driveway and I'm buying parts tomorrow. You have anything constructive to add?

Yeah, Don't go over your miles and don't use it like a truck incase something happens in 2 years and don't or can't buy it. You don't want to have to replace a bed or suspension or paint work ortake a hit on you mileage allowance on your rental.

Enjoy the truck, thats the most important part.

Just remember at the end of the day what something is worth can only be figured out once you try to sell it. You'll be hard pressed to get anything over 28-29K when you either sell or trade it in.

I'll have this truck for a decade, love it already. I found a great shop thanks to the folks on this thread and I'm scheduling the lift install soon. Gun metal Stealth 6 wheels will be ordered today along with some Toyo Open Country M/Ts. I'll post up some pics right when it's done. It was great driving it to work today, the Entune system is much better than what Audi offers (I sell Audis if you missed that earlier in the thread).

I have some time before winter so that I can add a topper and Iphone remote start for snowboarding season.

Thanks for all the help on here. It's great to have these forums, I remember when we had to learn on our own.

I see where the lease is advantageous for cash flow purposes but I have always lived under the adage that if you can't afford it don't buy it. If you can't figure out how to afford the truck with traditional finance (down payment and finance to find a comfortable payment) you probably don't need to be in the market for a 30k truck. This is why the housing market took a huge dump on over extended buyers, too much house not enough income!

Now with that said my biggest grievance with the idea of lease to purchase is the overall term. 3 yr lease and 5 yr finance is an 8 yr old truck. I don't finance over 60 month because I believe that is when repairs start to creep into the picture. I myself do not want to have fork over monthly payments and pay repair bills at the same time. And if you're married or going to be married soon find a way to keep vehicles long enough to have only 1 payment at a time. This is why I have a Tacoma.

I did a 24 month lease and I could of paid cash but I would of had to pull money out of the market. I'd rather have that earn interest and yes it'll be fine even in this current situation. I was Series 7 registered for a decade and I've sold cars (trucks, hot rods, exotics, Audis, etc) for another decade. Was a lease a mistake, I don't think so but I understand everyone's point of view and I appreciate them. Let's move on to something more interesting, like the Tacoma trucks we have regardless of how we own them.

Do you think I can avoid a cab mount chop with a small spacer or does that make the situation worse? Specs: Lift: 3 inch Toytec, Wheels: 17x8.5 -10 ET, tires: 285/70/17

Honestly the best option I believe at this point is to mount up what you have and see what rubs if anything. IF it does then see where and why and adjust. Whether that be adding spacers or going through with the CMC is up to you at that point. I don't see this set up rubbing during daily driving unless I'm missing something. If you get off the pavement that's another story.

Newsflash for those who keep going on about financing vs purchasing - he didn't ask for anyone's financial advise in his OP. What does it matter what he does with his money? It's not yours, it's his. So stahp.

Silver, the red springs are a little overkill in my opinion...
