Hey yall I have an 07 2.7L access cab 4wd. I just finished installing a K&N system and truck will not stay running. Everything has been triple checked twice so everything is plugged in and right. Battery was unhooked for about 30 min. It starts but immediately goes dead unless I hold the gas pedal to the floor and it will bounce between 1000 rpm and 2500 rpm but as soon as I back off the pedal truck dies. Any suggestions or help?

Its the system that replaces the factory air cleaner box right? Sounds like the engine isn't happy with what the Mass Air Flow sensor is reading. Make sure you didn't over oil the air cleaner, and make sure you didn't get any of the oil on the Mass Air Flow sensor, and maybe resetting the ECU again might be worth a try. Also look closely at the intake connections right at the throttle body. Any leaks there could throw things off pretty badly. Worse case see how it behaves with the original stuff re-installed

How many times have you tried to start it since you put it on? I know unplugging the battery makes the computer forget things sometimes, and if its cold it will often take a few starts for it to run normally again.

make sure not to over-oil the filter. I've had oiled filters since I got my truck and only takes a couple sprays from the bottle. Since this is new did you spray when you took it out? It should have been "pre-oiled" and wrapped in plastic.

Hey guys I went thru the same problems After the install, check your positioning of your mass sensor the opening has to be facing towards the airfilter as noted on the instructions for the mass sensor install, so if your harness clip is facing the firewall of the truck unscrew the sensor assembly and turn it around and it should be facing towards the front of the truck. I did just that and the Taco started up one time and never shut down again!!!!

Hello all. I've done the same thing on a 2013 and it won't stay running. I've done everything here and still nothing. I've checked it like 12 times to make sure everything is correct and it is. I did trim the length of one of the hoses because it was so long it I couldn't get it to stop kinking when installed but surely that isn't it. Any help would be great.

P.S. I have a new filter so it shouldn't need oil right? That wouldn't stop it from running would it? I've not added any yet.

Once the battery is unhooked low, rough idle is normal for a few minutes until the computer adjust for air/fuel for anyone who may be alarmed In the future.
