DSCN0135.jpg I have an 2010 Tacoma 4x4,I bought new it has 30,000 mi on it.
The clutch pedal had become so loud, I had enough it was time to fix it.
I got up under the dash and took out the pivot bolt and yanked that big ugly plastic pedal out. The pivot rides on plastic bushings, I found no lube of any kind. The big spring had some dried up grease on it as did the end of the clutch activating rod.
I cleaned all the parts with detergent and or alcohol. I packed the pivot with silicone grease, put a blob on the plunger rod, and the ends of the big coil spring.
I reinstalled the pedal while I was at it I added a bolt to the pedal stop so the clutch pedal can't sit two inches above the brake pedal, It occurred to me if the pedal bump stop is too thick it might put pressure on the clutch release bearing, If you do this be sure and check, this might cause unnecessary bearing wear. The pedals are about the same level now.
Getting that big spring back in is pain, I clamped it up in a vice and took a coat hanger and wired it in compressed position(I had to grind grooves in the spring to keep the wire from sliding down), after I got it in position I cut the wire, bingo. Done, almost, now under the truck the point where the rod contacts the clutch release lever is rusty and produces small squeak, I smeared marine grease all over it since there is no play in it. A word about marine grease it is extremely water resistant and long lasting, anything exposed to the elements gets it.
Now my pedal is totally silent, and I think it will stay that way for a long time. DSCN0102.jpg DSCN0103.jpg DSCN0123.jpg DSCN0131.jpg DSCN0134.jpg DSCN0121.jpg DSCN0136.jpg

Nice work!! I think I'll just shoot a little lithium grease at the problem on occasion, though.

I just put a little squirt on the plunger (I don't know the correct term). It's basically just a piston. A very small amount stopped the squeak for me a couple times now. I hope it keeps working.

So I'm not crazy? I have a 2015, and when I complained about the squealing clutch pedal they looked at me like I was smoking purple crack...

brought mine to the dealership today for a squeaky clutch and they said I need to replace $700+ worth of parts to resolve the issue. I said no thanks then she responded that I need to pay $39.89 for them to look at it. Toyota...

Yup. Mine seems to be somewha temperature related. The hotter it is inside the truck seems to depend on how loud the squeak is at least at 1st anyway. It was real bad 2 weeks ago and when I brought it in it was barley doing it but it was cooler out

Mine squeaks and I've just gotten used to it. I had it replaced once under warranty and that fixed it for about a week, then back to squeaking.

I just wonder how much of a fight I'm going to have when its not covered under warranty anymore. I'm certainly not going to pay for them to grease it when we all know it's not going to fix it

Yup. This dealer has always been good to me. It's where I bought the truck from. But I don't necessarily trust them either lol

My clutch pedal is still silent, the silicone grease I used is very stable. dealers in general really blow, with a minor problem like a squeak, they probably put the boy that cleans up used cars on this job.
I got a recall notice, maybe early next year I'll get new leaf springs, I always double check dealer work if I must go there. Our local dealer is so bad, I go out of town to another dealer for recalls.

anyone got a TSB number for this? my 2014 has always had this and its worse than ever. Ive been greasing it but the time between the creaking returning has gotten smaller. so its time for them to try something

I also have the noisiest wiper motors Ive ever heard and a passenger seat that sounds like its going to come apart. like the truck minus the noises that scream cheap
