What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Added an auxiliary fuel tank today.

 

I forgot to post a few weeks ago that I put in a
Water tank. Gravity to the spigot and a fill hose in the bed capped to keep bugs out. 7 gallon tank but probably 6-6.5 usable gallons

 

I see where you saw the idea before now. Found this on Google.

 

It helped me too, did it a couple days ago!

 

P0120 code for my amusement.

Tried all the usual fixes and nothing.
So ordering a new throttle position sensor tomorrow.

Shitty day..wheeled it, got stuck forever, and broke the 4wd....4wd won't engage, but the light comes on

I'll post a write up on my build thread. It'll probably take me a week or so. I still need to do a bunch of stuff to wrap the tank tomorrow....not quite done. I will say this for now though....I doing research on this about 18 months ago and started collecting parts in January. I'm super stocked to finally have jumped into this project. I couldn't have done it without my wood cutting Russian friend.

 

I broke my inner cv joint this weekend wheelin it. I have no idea how, but I did!

So ... do you think you got stuck because the 4WD stopped working, or broke the 4WD trying to get un-stuck?

 

I did that the next day after I bought my truck.

 

I've noticed something funny going on with the steering for a few months now at least. It seems that without resistance and if I'm moving, steering works fine. However when under load, my steering locks up hard, and I believe Harder than normal based on previous experience and watching others on the trail this weekend. I will be checking the ps fluid, but I'm pretty sure that is aok. What's next to check to diagnose? Maybe the pump or the r&p itself? Some one on the trail mentioned perhaps belt tension?

 

There is a screen in the resivior. It can get clogged up restricting fluid to the pump. It is removable to clean.

 

Haven't been keeping perfect track, but this weekend I probably hit 1,000 miles offroad this season.

Any way to diagnose? I actually looked under the truck this morning and it looks like it may have been an axle.....Would that cause 4wd to stop working? I wasn't getting any weird noises while it was engaged. And the light is still coming on, making me believe the electrical part is ok.

Well I crawled up a pretty steep sandy hill and it was working fine just minutes before getting stuck. I honestly think I got stuck because it wasn't working.
