Might be a little late to the party here, but i am a HUGE +1 for the Ultra Guage. Honestly im not sure why anyone would prefer the scan to the Ultra. I bought the scan first and sold it the next day and bought an Ultra.

-if you're using the trip timer, scanguage gives you the time in tenths of an hour. WTF. Cannot get travel time in minutes. Never have i been like "whoa i just drove for .4 hours". Ultraguage tracks in minutes like it should.
-bigger screen to show 4,6 or 8 guages at once. Scan only does 4. Also you can adjust the refresh rate.
-pages of guages. I have one for normal driving, and one for road trips. The diff is that the guages dont reset upon fuel up on my road trip page.
-cheaper and can be pre-programmed for taco to show trans temp (doesnt apply to OP, but still it was nice to not have to program it)

The calibration instructions are kinda dumb on the ultra, but you can do it the same way as the scan if you like. basically just drive around like 10 miles, tracking the distance on your odo in the dash, and also use an app on your phone to track the mileage too (this will be the accurate reading). your truck will say you went 10 miles, but the app should say you went more, say, 11 miles. that means your guage is off by 10%, so you input that percentage into the Ultraguage and it calibrates your speed and odo.

Best place to mount is above the rear view mirror... easy to look at while driving and it really out of the way. I used a bike reflector mount from a bike shop, just went in and asked and they gave me one for free, they have tons of them from assembling bikes and either dont put them on or the customer doesnt want them. The one i got was a little bigger diameter than the mirror mount, so i used a little rubber strip to fill the gap and make it snug.

whew. I have a lot to say here, as i just went through all this, so feel free to ask any other q's

Speaking of Ultragauges... so do they not tell oil pressure?? That's the one thing I wanted...

If you were to buy the MX one and say its for a Tacoma, does that mean you have to always use it on the tacoma since its setup for it or can you use it an any vehicle?

Lol I cannot believe we have all these crazy gauges but not oil pressure. That's like the most common...

Yeah but oil pressure is an essential one... it should at least have a sender for diagnostics!

I'm getting my ultra Guage today, it's out for delivery. I got the suction cup for the windshield and was going go put it down by the mirror and twist it up on top of the mirror. But where did u run your wire if you put it up there?

If you just pop those two clips off and take out the bolts the pillar pops right out?

THIS. I did the exact same thing, theres plenty of room to run it through the dash, instead of tucking the wire in the seal around the door (my original plan, until i actually started installing). Run it down through the dash, itll come out by the e-brake and you can tuck the wire away real nice. It should be the PERFECT length if done properly.

I actually prefer the Torque app to both of them.

I love the torque app to but it's a pain to have to get the phone setup each time I get in the truck. Got my ultra Guage installed yesterday and there is so many settings, haven't had time to play around bd with it yet. Got to print out the sheet where it tells u what everything is since everything is abbreviated. Love it so far tho!!!!

Do either option show real mph on larger tires? My girlfriend got a ticket driving the truck because she didn't know how fast she was going.
