Writing down a list of parts for my truck. It's alot longer than I originally thought lol. But that's a good and bad thing. Good thing cause my truck would be and look awesome. And bad cause I'll be putting just as much money into it as the truck costs lol

Had some initial difficulty finding this online, stuck as I was in an Amazon loop of pretender parts with customer comments such as "finally got it to fit ..." Eventually found at Metro Toyota in Kalamazoo, MI ( https://www.toyotapart.com ) but of course available at any dealer.

I think my tailgate had been without the cable for quite some time, as the tailgate is a little warped from having no support on the one side. When shut, that side still has 1/4" to go but won't. But I can still get that side to latch more or less. With the new cable back on that side, now of course it's taking the full brunt of the tailgate weight. I can clearly see slack on the other side now.

Perhaps I need to get some weights and put 'em on the one side, to straighten out the tailgate ... ? Yeah, "first world problems" and all that, but still.

    Also today:

I'm a sucker for OEM carpeted floormats. In my opinion nothing looks nicer, at least when new. The highest-quality I've ever had are in my '94 Accord. Nice, thick, sturdy and with the "Accord" logo attached with a backing plate (!) The ones in my '06 MPV and this Tacoma are considerably thinner (the base, or rubber part I'm referring to). Still, I had to get 'em.

Toyota includes the slip bracket/clip for the driver's side, a nice bonus. However, the designated hole in my carpet is slightly bigger than ideal and the clip doesn't do much nor does it really go down into the floor. I felt around through the carpet's hole but all I felt was "floor," not insulation nor anything else for the push-base part of the clip to clip into.

So the clip sorta makes the carpet ride up a little, and the floor mat with it. The other oddity for both front mats is that they butt right up against, and even slightly on top of, the seat bracket where it bolts to the floor. In the case of the passenger side there's no way to move the mat farther away; it hits the plastic under the dash where it meets floor. On the driver's side, the retaining clip prevents the mat from sliding forward (duh) enough to clear the seat bracket completely.

Again, not a big issue, just a surprising lack of precision here. 1/2" less material would be perfect.

Lol good point. Rather have a truck that I can go have fun in then a fatter wallet.

Also thinking about doing a LS3 swap and transmission and transfer case as well. Or just keeping the 5vz and supercharge it along with a 7th injector. Both really cool and great ideas imo. But what do you guys think, I'm just looking at the end result atm

That motor swap is a lot of work. And you'll need at least a 1'' body lift if not 2''. Don't even want to know how the wiring would be for that.
