Just wanted to share my MPG from this weekends road trip. Went down to Ashland Oregon to visit my brother in law and hauled back a bed full and I mean full of misc stuff as well as a 16' boat. The trip was around 200 miles up to northern Oregon from southern Oregon so up and down hills almost the whole trip. I got 14.5 MPG with the bed full, the boat hooked up and my wife and 3 kids in the cab. Didn't really have an expectation for MPG's on this trip and I didn't buy a Tacoma for MPG's but I just wanted to share my experience. I love my truck even though I have only had it a little over a week.

Breaking it in the hard way! Go easy on it the first 1,000 miles. Toyota says not to tow until it's broken in and to vary your speeds as well.

You're probably fine though. :) Considering the hills, the full cab, the bed full o'stuff and the boat you probably did okay. My mileage got better over time as the truck broke in and I learned to drive it with better economy.

That is actually pretty good mpg's. I am getting about the same with a 350 pd trailer with a 600 pd quad. I never good over 65 and I have stock size mild all terrain tires. And I do agree you don't buy it for it's efficieny.

It's a 2015 but it had 4k when I bought it. It's new to me I guesse :). I have no complaints though. I was actually really surprised how well it handled everything.

Ahh! No break in needed then. :) You're good to go.

    Speed is key.

Towed our lil seadoo jet boat from ventura to lake nacimiento (200ish mi one way) Boat weighs right around 1700lbs with all its gear, throw some mic stuff in the boat for the camp trip, call it 1750+ trailer (700ish?) So lets say 2400lbs. Then a bed full of camping gear, and a honda CT70. close to 3000 lbs total extra weight being pulled up n down hills from here to naci.

For shits n giggles cus i didnt have any time constraints i did the legal speed limit of 55mph the whole way.... total round trip mpg = 17.4

that surprised the hell out of me

Did that same trip but 4 weeks before that no boat, n half the camping gear but 70ish mph.... 19mpg.
