Question: Camburg UCA's come with the option of either a uniball joint or a MOOG joint. Icon and TC use uniball joints, so is the MOOG joint outdated or ahead of its time? Which is better basically??

And heim joint vs Uniball, it seems like a safety measure and easier to replace... Still, experience welcomed.

Extremely new here, bear with me please.

New to the Taco family and the lift crave.

Where do I start first? I live in Alaska, offroad frequently, and I have a Wrangler with a 5" lift sitting next to me. As much as I'm happy that it performs better than the Wrangler, I want it to look beefer than my neighbor as well.

    Mahalo in advance!

I have a set of 1st gen leaf springs and was wondering if I could cut them to make them fit on my 2006 Prerunner because the hole is off center.

    Doable? Not recommended?

My goal is to fit 315/75R16 tires on my stock rims on a DCSB OR. From zooming this website I've deduced that I need a 6' lift and wheel spacers to do so. It also seems like Icon is one of the most popular and trusted suspension companies mentioned in here. But what I can't find is a good thread that describes the different stages of lift and their capabilities/applications.

If this is already somewhere and I've just missed it then please redirect me. But if not, then here goes my specific situation.

My truck goes off road probably at least 2 weekends a month, but never in a punishing fashion like rock crawling or desert racing or hard core mud bogging. Just getting to and from hunting spots, camping spots, and general exploring. So I don't feel like I need the highest end components. However when Z Day hits and all the main highways are shut down, I want to feel confident my suspension will hold up against some nasty terrain.

So is it a safe bet for me to go somewhat middle of the road with a stage 3 kit, or are there other things I need to take into consideration?

Sorry if this question was already asked, but I'm not really willing to read 53 pages for the question. :anonymous:
Okay, so I bought this truck with a 2.5" lift and it runs 285s. It drives normal on pavement, even at full turns. As soon as I air down the tires for Off-road however, the tires rub at full turns.
So in the first post, it describes to trim the front body mount. Excuse my ignorance, but I've never done this so bear with me. Is that hard to do? What tools do I use, if any? WHERE is the front body mount? And finally, will you be able to tell the front mount is trimmed/cut - visually or in the ride quality?
    Thanks.

That Jeep could have 12" of lift and its still going to get stuck, so don't get hung up on looks. 3" of lift and the right set of shoes will have you running circles around that heap.

There are a ton of recommendations I can make, but I don't want to give you my opinion because I'm biased (Old Man Emu FTMFW!). You may want to consider searching the build threads for guys with TRD Off-Road Access Cabs, and see what has worked well for them and what hasn't. Set a goal and a ball-park budget. Also keep in mind that setting up your truck like a dune-hopping pre-runner isn't going to be very conducive to your current climate.

Everything you're going to need to know is on TW, including other Taco owners in your area. Below are just a few of my favorite threads, I follow about 50 or so:

If you couldn't tell, I'm working an expedition build for my truck and these guys help me generate ideas on how to go about it.

I think I've read through most of this thread and I don't think I saw a good discussion/comparison of advantages/disadvantages of lifting with blocks and spacers vs. with suspension. Is there another thread that compares the two with pros and cons?

Okay sorry if these are some dumb questions.

I'm looking to get rid of my Revtech 3" lift kit that the dealership put on and go with a new suspension. I'm completely new to all of this so I guess my question is where do I start? I'm running 285/70/17 right now and my new tires are already rubbing again. After browsing through TW, I don't want to go with the "temporary fix" by putting wheel spacers because I already know I want to move away from spacers all together and go with something nice and reliable.
    Another dumb question.
If I already have the 3" lift, what does that mean for a new suspension? A lot or bundle of some type? I've heard Icon is a great brand to go with...

No such things as dumb questions. I think I want to do what you're doing and replace all suspension under the truck. My goal is to fit 33s, however I don't think a 3 inch lift will suffice based on what some people say. As much as I want 33s, I will NOT go anywhere above a 3" lift. I hear anything above that and you'll have to use drop brackets which lowers ground clearance. And also isnt great for handling safety.

I'm thinking about going with Fox or Icon like you. I hear they're the big brands for offloading.

I heard that if you go more than a 3 inch lift you become really likely to break tie rods, is this true?

I've thought of 33s myself but like you, I've heard that's not such a good idea. I won't go over a 3" lift either. Im more than happy with the 3" lift that it's got right now I just would like to learn a little more and possibly go with Icon.

Altogether I am thankful for TW. I don't want to jump into something without knowing what fits me best.

    Thanks for the input

More shit then I ever planned on doing
Rather new to this sight and wishing I would've joined and read some of these threads before I made the mistake of installing a pro crap 3" coil over kit on my 2015 DC and dealing with the incompetent / untrusting employees at 4wp.
With tha said I'm looking to dump my pro comp kit cut my losses and install a better riding 3" coil over kit that'll allow me to get my alignment (steering bump) issues squared away.
Was thinking of going with the bilstein 3" kit and 5160's. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

So I'm on the fence between toy tech 2.5 coil overs or the icon coil overs. The price difference is only about $100. Would love to hear some feedback from guys or gals running these shocks.
