What features, options, qualities(or lack thereof) didn't you like?

Keep telling yourself that. I was really excited for the new Tacoma, until I saw it. The specs are ok, but I can't get over that ugly mug.

Have you seen how ugly and disproportionate the Tacoma's front end design is? It looks like a pig with an awkward underbite.

I don't see much/anything in the way of "hate", mostly disappointment. That is, aside from the guy above me... Being disappointed in improvements is a long way from saying that the vehicle is "less than" the alternatives.

Agreed, but I do have to say I hate being lied to regarding the reason for the drum brakes and the seat belt buckle comment made by Sweers.

BlueT is really as dumb as everyone has been saying. He is like the kid that just keeps saying, " I know you are but what am I". Go do something else besides argue on the internet all day.

I'm neutral when it comes to BlueT - he says some good things and says some things I disagree with.

With all respect, if you don't like him then just click the ignore link and then his posts don't show up. I've done that to a few people on here.

Has it ever occurred to anyone maybe it was to keep the price down, they chose to leave something unchanged that already worked. Not to mention, the FJ and 4runner were designed by someone else. I see what everyone is saying, but it's like you guys want him to say "We left the drum brakes because we're a bunch of cheap fucks!" .. I mean the added features are obviously going to bring up cost, but if they can keep it to a minimum by not making unnecessary changes that really don't need changed, then what's the problem? When was the last time someone went on a rant on how crappy the drum brakes were? It's like all the crap Mustang fans were getting about the live axle on the Mustang.. A lot of them actually PREFFERED the live axle.. Go figure.. I personally weighed my other options, but seriously, how focking crazy do you have to be to walk away from a brand that is proven to you, to something else just because of the drum brakes? Really.. Anyway to each their own, I just don't see the logic in this drum brake tirade..

I don't like the whole look actually, it just isn't appealing. The rear door is funky with the window. no dual climate. interior seemed cheap

If you don't like the look, you don't like the look, fair enough. The Tacoma does a similar upswing on the rear window, neither bother me. No dial climate? Were you looking at a base truck? Mid-range and above have dials for climate control. As far as cheap, I don't think either of the GM twins felt luxurious, but I thought the build quality and materials were better than the 2nd Gen Tacoma. They seemed like they might be durable as well, but time will tell with that. GM has been more miss than hit in that dept on most of their vehicles. I'll have to wait until I can test drive the 3rd gen to make that comparison.

There is plenty of overlap for use....all but the tightest of trails is where the Tacoma will shine, even then...a DCLB Tacoma and a F150 Super Cab 6.5' bed, the size comparing the two is pretty dang close...get so much more truck with the F150.

I rarely use the Tacoma for any super hard trail use...it is mainly used as a DD and hauling my gear, dirt bikes, mountain bikes, kayaks, camping & fishing gear. For a guy like me, that just wants to run down dirt roads and haul gear, I see the F150 outshining the Tacoma in many ways. Any super hard trail is way more fun and waaay faster on a dirt bike than any truck...no matter how well built/modded it is.

When you start comparing specs and price, I can pick up a F150 XL for around $30K, that has waaay more options than I'll use or ever need...makes you question throwing money at a '16 Tacoma.

If they had made the looks of it a smaller version of the silverados that have gone back to the awesome square body style i woulda had me one. But alas they made the colorado so ugly and curvy up front that i hate it.

I'm still debating the idea of getting a new 4R vs a 16/17 DC OR. Never owned a pickup. The new homeowner in me who has rented a HD truck a couple times for lumber and foam board insulation is pressuring me to get the truck. I also tell myself, I could load stone and mulch in the Taco. My wife prefers the 4R and having a covered and carpeted cargo area would be nice for furniture purchases. I'd probably actually use the open truck bed to its full potential, 6 times a year, max. Then again, the new taco also gets better MPGs. Also not sure which one would tow a small 16' travel trailer best. Agonizing decision.

    see this man gets it!

I meant DUAL, not dial, i edited it. Again, I'm a damn GM guy, trust me, but the new colorado/canyon just isn't doing it for me!
I've owned nothing but GM the last 5 vehicles

For a general purpose truck, 1/2 ton is hard to beat...there are some short comings with the Taco...while the 1/2 ton's surely makes up for it. I looked at F250 gassers (no interest in the big diesels), be nice to get that coil sprung solid front axle, 3000lbs payload would be great for hauling a Four Wheel Camper, but those 6.2 gassers get between 10-14 mpg...like the Tundra that is unacceptable. Now the Tacoma gets roughly the same mpg as the other half tons other than the Tundra, comparing specs DCLB only has a 950 lbs payload (F150 is at 2200), price, and whatnot...the Tacoma makes less sense...at least for what I am going to use it for.

Why does a truck have to be squared off? To make sure you feel secure in its truckiness? The Canyon is more squared off. If that's the look you had to have, why didn't you buy one of those?

Why do trucks have to have such squared off designs? The trucks above all have round front ends, and I think they're all very good looking trucks.

Those front ends look idiotic. Looks like a minivan or sedan or something.
