I don't buy snap on any more. Their hit and miss warranty, and outrageous prices are just top much to be worth it.

All except the MAC, IR and cornwell impacts I got given to me, or in lots of tools.

The MAC was a waste. When I got the IR ones I use now I did a lot of shopping around. I liked that Snap on top of the line one except the price and the fact that its balanced funny and heavy as hell. The IR was a much nicer fit.

Damn. That was either way tight or your not feeding it enough air!

I've been contemplating investment in a modest pneumatic tool collection, and this gives me a nice base on which to begin. Thanks.

I have a decent collection of SK, Wright, and Westward tools for work. Westward is the mainstay though. I'm sure someone is going to chime in that Westward is Chinese junk, but they've held up quite nicely in my work environment, and have withstood attack from nasty chemical much better than some of the more popular and expensive brands I've used.

    No kidding. Same here.

First time I did this I knew I was in a lot of trouble... Mainly because of the massive shit-eating grin on my face.

No problem. I like tools, I buy and try them and research until I find what I like best.

There are some gems to be had at harbor freight.

The earthquake 1/2 impact, its definitely the best bang for the buck. Can't beet it for the 100 bucks it costs on sale.

The color coded pitsburgh professional ratcheting gear wrenchs.
    The large tool boxes.
Cut off wheels for the grinder.
    Pry bars.
The large needle air scaler has been working great so far. The mini was junk!
The pneumatic body saw is handy, changing blades is a bitch.
storage bins for nuts and bolts.

I have a ton of old craftsman tools. However I won't buy any new ones. They sold out to china, and I wont pay those prices for chinese tools.

I like SK, but they have shoulders in their deep well sockets.

Wright makes nice tools but some of them are less than ideally designed.

I Love my Proto pear head ratchets, and my smooth handle snap on.

The only craftsman power tool I would buy again is the c3 1/2 cordless impact. The nicad battery works better than the lithium ones. But all the batteries suck, the tool is a great value for 100 bucks on sale.

The small air compressor line from HF sucks. But their large ones are not bad at all. They are made by different companies completely.

My snap on air drill has been a champ.

One of the best things you can do is find reviews, and a friend with the tool if possible and give it a shot before you buy.

I have never been to a Harbor Freight. Then again, 98% of my tools have bern free so I've never really had a reason to lol. They opened a HF not far from here so maybe I'll have a chance to check it out this weekend.

For an electric impact I use a DeWalt 18V (if I remember correctly). It does the job I need it to do and I needed uniformity between all my other battery hand tools. Impact sockets are Proto and other sockets/ratchets are a combination of Proto, Westward, Wright, and old Craftsman. My biggest criteria is availability & durability. If I have an emergency job that requires a tool I don't have, I need to be able to get it immediately. As a result I'm fairly limited to the industrial stores around my work and Grainger next day shipping availability.

The specialty tools I'll splurge on; I have a two torque wrenches: one SK and one CDI.

On the other hand, the newer Channellock tools are questionable in quality but they're abundant, so I'll continue using them daily.

In dirt? I was able to get 1st and second to spin through the rpms, but my 2nd to 3rd shift sucked and it just chirped in 3rd. Prior to all my mods though, so i could probably spin up in 3rd as well now...except Mud terrains

Nice. Thanks for the heads up. That compressor just may very well end up on my ever-growing "Things to buy" list.

So I'm in the middle of my supercharger install and am stuck here. I had to leave for work so the truck is currently sitting in the garage....

I have the blower placed on the manifold, but the two heater core lines are in the way on the back driver's side of the engine. Do these get rerouted and I'm missing it in the instructions? They are currently not letting the blower sit right on the engine.... Any help?

Yea i think it just sits on those, it shouldnt be pushing the manifold off though. You should just have to move them a littlr

Those are over rated in their specs. They are ok for the money, but they really stink overall. I had one myself before.

Their large compressor line is much better.

Also, I warranted their grinders about 10 separate times before I gave up on them. I bought a Dewalt and I have burned up one, but it has been going strong for a few years.

As for hand tools, all the pitsburgh basic stuff is pretty lame. The pitsburgh professional line has quite a few decent or good tools for the money.

The impact sockets from them are the ones I use on the road in my to go tool kit and I have broken a few, they are very thick as well.

The "2.5 hp" model upright, not the oil free is regularly on sale. I payed 160 shipped to my door, its by no means a great compressor. But it works, and its a decent value. Hard to beat it for the price, unless you buy a used one.
