Their assessment is kind of misleading. They claim its 10 inches shorter and narrower than the frontier. It is not. The global ranger is a mid-size. it has the same wheelbase and comparable length and width of the short wheelbase (DCSB/AC) Tacoma. It seems like a lot of people think the global ranger is a compact. It is not compact like the USA Ranger or 1st gen Tacoma was. If you want a midsize Ford truck, that's great. It would be a perfectly fine midsize truck in America. Just don't be under the illusion that the global (T-6) ranger is compact.

From what I've seen, the US ranger is supposed to be an actual compact truck. So looking at the global Ranger to make inferences about the supposed US ranger is going to be about as helpful as looking at the hilux to make inferences about the Tacoma.

    T-6 Global Ranger
    Dimensions
    Wheelbase
    3,226 mm (127.0 in)
    Length 5,359 mm (211.0 in)
    Width 1,849 mm (72.8 in)
    Height 1,815 mm (71.5 in)
    Curb weight 1,866–1,968 kg (4,114–4,339 lb)[1]

For reference heres the 2nd gen Tacoma
    Wheelbase
    Regular Cab 2WD: 109.4 in (2,779 mm)
    Access Cab: 127.8 in (3,246 mm)/127.2 in (3,231 mm)
Double Cab Long Bed: 140.9 in (3,579 mm)
    Length
Regular Cab: 190.4 in (4,836 mm)
Access Cab: 208.1 in (5,286 mm)
Double Cab Short Bed: 208.1 in (5,286 mm)
Double Cab Long Bed: 221.3 in (5,621 mm)
    Width
    2WD Extended: 74.6 in (1,895 mm)
    2WD Regular: 72.2 in (1,834 mm)
    4WD: 74.7 in (1,897 mm)
    X-Runner: 74.0 in (1,880 mm)

I do know the new 5 pot diesel ranger does not have the best reliability record. The new frontier is ugly and even though the former colorado has the exact same engine they will be using in the new colorado diesel, the colorado has never sold well in the markets it's available.

Another ugly midsize truck to hit the streets possibly.

Ford Ranger was a good little trash hauler and parts truck. It made its living as a light duty, on road, cheap to buy and run, but only if you didn't push it. We had some carpenters working on our house and couldn't make it in with a four wheel drive Ranger during mud season. It hated rough travel. Had to pick them up in my old Toyota truck. The Ranger owner was amazed what the toyota would do...I wasn't.

The approach angle is almost as bad as the Colorado

Hmm, what's the difference between these two trucks?

Compare trucks that are actually available in the US or announced to be available in the US. Or the Global Ranger to the Global HiLux - the HiLux is a damn good truck everywhere else. Drove one in Nicaragua last year and wish that thing was available here. I might downgrade creature comforts for that truck .... oh wait I'm not the 99% US small/mid sized truck market ... neither Global truck will see US shores so back to comparing trucks that are actually confirmed and are or a going to be available here? Right, there is no Ford anything, Nissan what ? (sorry never drove one that I actually liked), Chevy/GM? Chevy is an OK vehicle and they nail creature comforts like a Cadilac - and my '14 Silverado Crew Cab 1500 got great MPG - 19 Average before getting totaled. But i am back here b/c I love the way Toyota drives and goes about its business.

LOL!That's what i call the new 3rd gen.Tacoma! The 2.5 exactly!I will say though if i had to pick based on appearance out of all the ugly midsize trucks i would choose the Tacoma even with the Dodge front end,2nd gen.Tacoma cab and Ford bed.

If they couldn't get out of the mud then it was their tires. There is nothing special about a Tacoma 4WD over a Ranger.

Could hardly tell what he was trying to say. He said the Colorado's 8.4" ground clearance was better than the Tacoma's 9.1"

Agreed. I would rock that thing from Sand Point to Bonners!
