Did a quick ride sand today too got sketched out had one cop . I thought I was busted. Sets was breaking so far out today . Yeah 5 seconds I was out to sea lol .

 

Recon only picks on lowered vehicles with c-notches. Adding mounts for shocks is nothing.

 

What he's doing isn't a simple adding mounts for shocks.. He's relocating the rear Mounting point for his leaf springs... He's cutting the original rivets off the frame, and welding up new ones... He will also be doing welding for his cab mounts... Thats not minor

 

I stand corrected... The spring mounts will be bolt on but his cab mount will be cut and weld.. Either way its a frame modification... That said.. It's easy as hell to modify from stock... But once you weld and fail(IF he does), hard to go back to stock once old parts are cut and aren't sold even at the dealer.... You'd have to find OEM and cut off a scrap frame... And even worse... Let's say these frames fail the same way previous Toyota frames did that were involved in the buybacks... Not gonna apply to him with modified frame.... He will do as he sees fit... I just hate to hear guys throw caution to the wind for it to come back later.. That would be no small backpedaling, that would be a vehicle that can't pass recon and therefore can't pass safety and therefore can't get registered... Then it goes on Craigslist with back papers to some poor guy that thinks he's getting a deal and has no idea

 

I guess we're lucky then because he's going to pass inspection like that.

I have one similar. Was like $10 on eBay. I never use it. Come scoop em up and it's yours.

 

A couple of us have them... trouble codes do show, so I guess that is a plus.. on the minus the fuel gauge is crap.. no electrical sensor, so no accurate reading..

 

I use mine for my truck as well as anyone else that needs a CEL readout
