    Gents,

I've been scouring this forum for the past few years to compensate for my inept mech abilities. I have finally decided to register once I found out there is an AK specific community. I have been stationed at JBER for a fewyears now, you've probably seen me scooting around (vise-versa).

I usually spend my time catching a buzz and no fish in Kenai, and the valley. When I am not doing that I am usually cycling to keep the beer belly off.

In any case I've only done a few mods to my Taco.

(Not the best photo, and the topper makes me look like I am running errands from the senior home)
    FullSizeRender.jpg

    Grillcraft insert
    BAMF Light bar w/ 2x Hella 500s
TRD springs and shocks - certainly needed that!
Leer Topper - CGL deal - painted, temporary plexiglass window
    BFG T/A KO2 (not really a mod)

On the immediate to-do list is

Install fog lights, and HID kit on both

Hellas are getting 55w 15k from DDM
Fog lights 35w 3k from DDM

Any opinions on the HIDs up here in AK?

Hey Kirk, Happy to have you here! If you haven't found green tree fab in Anchorage yet you should definitely do so, sort of a one stop shop for toyotas. We oughtta get you out wheeling sometime soon!

benbacher, thanks for the skulls up! I have been looking/pondering some armor. And I would certainly be up for some light wheeling!

I put a photo up of her. I would like to plastic-dip the chrome grill, and the emblems as well. Any local places that sell plastic-dip that you know of?

You can pick it up at most any hardware stores. I know Lowes/Home Depot have at least black. I do believe that true value (on Jewel Lake) has a variety of colors.

I would only use Plasti-Dip as a temporary solution and find an OEM painted grille They look much nicer.

AKHawkeye, I think you are right. I am absolutely looking for a permanent application. I've seen a lot of information pointing out that spray-painted grills (originally chrome) are prone to chipping).

Have any experience with shops in the area that sell paint matched shake cans?

I have a set of stock foglights with 3K HID bulbs in them. i swapped out my front bumper last year but kept the lights themselves.
You will need to pick up a stock switch and a relay harness (maybe ballasts). I don't suggest plugging directly into the stock wiring with the ballasts. it induced RF noise into the wiring which was heard via the radio. it really gets bad when driving out to the valley... the interferance overpowers the weak radio signals.

Let me know if your interested.

Bummer! I already installed the fogs a week or so ago. I simply wired it as an auxiliary to reduce the chance of some noise. Thanks for the skull up!
