Most of the 60K miles on my 2013 have been between 19 and 20 combined. Just
replaced the OEM tires with Firestone A/T's and the first two tanks were 18.5 combined
    and 19 mostly freeway (70 - 75).

The one time I used non ethanol my mileage didn't change a bit. And it was about $.60 more a gal

Same argument for buying regular over premium... if the savings with better mileage don't outweigh the higher price per gallon, stick with the cheap stuff.
I know for a fact that ethanol-free gasoline will deliver you more miles per gallon (gasoline has more energy than alcohol), but not enough to pay 60 cents more per gallon! You also need to run more than one tank of a different fuel to see the improvement. It has something to do with the computers in our vehicles??!!

That's crazy. I get 87 octane non-ethanol for $0.01 per gallon more than the ethanol places selling 85.5 octane.

Station I go to is usually about the cheapest in town.

I ran 2 tankfuls of ethanol-free 87 octane through my truck recently. I got about 1MPG better than I have been getting on 10% ethanol 87. Truck ran exactly the same on both. I can't justify the cost increase for the truck - but I do use ethanol-free gas in all my small engines.

I've been getting around 20mpg with my 2015 double cab off road, mostly mixed driving. I have a question though, I know different tires can affect mileage. If I go from the stock BFG rugged trails to BFG all terrains KO's or KO2's and stay with the same size tire is that going to hurt, help, or not change my mileage.

Just filled mine up after the first tank and I averaged 19.4 MPG. It is a brand new truck though, so I am told that the MPG should go up slightly as the truck breaks in. I am trying this tank without using cruise control (to keep RPMs below 2k as much as possible) and will try to figure out my optimal mpg. Next tank will be calculated using cruise everywhere I can.

If they are the same size it won't hurt your mileage/odometer reading. However, the friction of the rubber and tread design and the weight change in the tires can certainly have an impact.

Hard to say exactly how much though.

I've got 500 miles on my 2015 and I've averaged 19.5 for all of it. I am driving like a grandma for the most part, but that includes city driving and driving up a mountain to my camp 3 times. I'm happy with it

So I found this video on YouTube this evening. This guy drives a brand new 2015 Tacoma DCLB V6 43.6 miles and uses 1.779 gallons of fuel (all highway @ 65mph). He then determines the Tacoma actually gets 24.5 MPG on the HWY. He claims in his video that most of the EPA tests are performed in a lab setting at an average speed of 48mph.

There's a lot to be questioned here. For example, a short distance liked 43 miles doesn't give an amazingly accurate average. And driving at 65mph on a flat interstate doesn't seem like "real world" testing to me. However, he did manage to get 24.5mpg out of a Tacoma (albeit on a very short trip).

With a stick you can use cruise as much as possible, with automatic it wants to downshift aggressively as you probably know. One strategy is to knock down a few mph approaching an incline to avoid the downshift.

You should get 24+ all day long at 65 mph long distance on a stock 4x4. Try it.
