MY neighbor thinks i am crazy for buying a first year new technology truck. He was a mechanic for Chrysler/Dodge though. He owns a Tacoma and thinks there will be a few recalls and issues once enough trucks are "beta tested by us early adopters" I have faith in Toyota they won't put anything but QDR on the street. Especially a redesigned truck that out sells everything in its class

And the 2005 owners thought the same. Still will be more reliable than a domestic likely.

"TRD Sport: These trucks ($30,565 for 4×2 Access Cab) upgrade the 16-inch steelies to 17-inch aluminum wheels, install a 400-watt AC outlet in the bed, and include LED daytime running lamps, wireless inductive charging for cell phones, leather shift knob, one-touch up/down for the driver’s window, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and keyless entry with push-button start. The Entune infotainment system enjoys a bigger seven-inch touchscreen with on-board navigation, HD radio, live traffic overlays, and a limited collection of in-truck apps such as OpenTable and Yelp. Opting for the Double Cab costs $1100, while the six-speed-manual Access Cab ($32,220) is the cheapest route for four-wheel drive.."

I have no interest in the DC, maybe if the DCLB came with a manual trans, I would. We don't haul people very often. Asked the wife if we should get the DCLB, for when we get visitors...she said let them rent their own damn car. Again her with that logic stuff... :D

When I compare the DCLB to the F150 SuperCab 6.5' bed...it kinda makes sense...but the F150 to the Access Cab Tacoma...the F150 looks less appealing. I would loose my manual trans wheelbase is 145" to the Taco's 127"...while I don't wheel has hard as I used to...I still do go out and get into some tight spots.

Under the impression they are fixing the little nagging things on it...which all and all weren't that bad on a already super reliable truck.

Yep, a similar engine has been out for a while...so I don't think there will be a problem with reliability.

A similar but not the same, the ecotecs were similar and had issues, and the tranny is all new. I will bet a beer there will be teething issues, minor but some. No one is saying its gonna blow up, etc. just little things, engine mounts, gasket leaks, etc are not uncommon even for toyota. Lot of kool aid drinking going on in this section.

yeah...there will be some bugs, there always is.

Overall I am sure it will fine....kinda funny, we as people aren't perfect, but want a perfect truck...and all for $30K or less! :D

Agreed, even my 2015 has some quirks and they've been building the same damn truck for 10 years now.

Misfires was exactly the problem I had with my 2014 Santa Fe. Misfires is the problem our friend is dealing with in his 2015 F-150 which he bought new. When we saw him in July he had been to the shop with an engine check light which turned out to be a misfire, I only know this because before our trip we had just got the Santa Fe back for misfires and melted spark plugs. We just saw him again last week and he'd been in the shop again for the same problem. Could be worse, he could be driving a Ram with the diesel engine.....

    Silly to quote myself, but...

EDIT: According to the brochure you can get the SR with the V6/4WD/Manual trans...if I am reading that right?

Back when the first model spec thing leaked in april, it listed an SR DCSB V6 MT and AT model 7593. You know, that one that listed the engine as 7GR. All the recent configs show the MT version of the V6 SR trim didn't make the final cut. So it could be this brochure department never got the memo to cut that trim. Or maybe it's a super secret trim that is available only to those that pay too much attention.

yeah, I am surprised it is listed in the brochure, where I read everywhere else the SR isn't getting the manual...while (in the brochure) the SR5 says it is auto only.

Might be a misprint. Wish Toyota would update their website with the '16's.

Alright, nerds, get this. We got white 2nd Gen "Stormtroopers". Now, with the 3rd Gen's grill, I want to see blacked out "Darth Vader" builds. No chrome. BHLM. At least 35% tint.

I want full credit for when this movement takes off.
