Yeah 4.10's are the strongest gear but put more stress on the tcase. How much is he selling for? E-locker or open?

I don't have details yet. What price should I look for? I don't want elockers.

Yeah elockers can quickly turn into a money pit keeping them working plus they are a little weaker in the shafts. Ff disk brake open normally goes for $400 or so. I gave $250 and a set of drive flanges I got for free for mine

Why not? A d60 is not much of an upgrade over the fjaxle, and unless you get all 35 spline stuff $$$$ for a 60 its a slight downgrade. IMO get a 14bolt if you don't want the lc 9.5. No need to drop a ton of money on a 14bolt to make them strong, unlike a d60.

Are you saying the 60 is marginally stronger than a FJ80 axle?

Yes a stock d60. Not counting rock jocks, and 35 spline aftermarket madness out there before people jump all over me with their $8,000 rear 1tons they built.... What i was getting at is lc 9.5, or 14bolt for a cheap strong rear axle. The area where the lc9.5 sucks is the hub studs, however you can drill them out and re-tap them for bolts and more dowels. The elocker axles suck if you twist or break a shaft with the locker engaged, you have to almost cut the housing in half to get the shaft out due to the locker collar design. However if you drive like a normal person and not a rock-bouncer this probibly wont be a problem.

At first I thought you were talking about front axles and was curious if you were high. For how cheap a 14 bolt is you can't beat how strong they are. Ground clearance and weight though a 9.5 FF does win but were not building feather weights lol.

I'm going to be looking for an even compromise on light weight to strength.

Yea 14 bolts are the shit. I was building one for a jeep i used to own and i got mine for free out of buddies neighbors yard!!

I'm a toyota fag, the discs worked with my stock tacoma brake system with no mods at all and it wasn't 8lug, that's why i went with the 9.5 over a 14bolt.

I always say use what ever is common in your group of wheelers. That way if/when you break there's usually someone who has a spare.

Nah man gotta be different and do your own thing! Haha I like my non cookie cutter build. When I'm done I'll have a lightweight, strong, all Toyota build that's pretty unique.

Unless you plan on spending some coin I'd steer of a 9 inch. Seen way to many failures on 35s.
