In the market for a new set of tires. I was going to originally go with the Toyo Open Country A/T II's in 265/75/16R, but when I was pricing them out at Les Schwab, they also included a quote for a cheaper set of Dean Back Country SQ-4's. The guy at the counter said they were very new to the market, but based on feedback so far they are supposed to ride quieter, and still provide a good amount of traction.

Has anyone picked up or seen a set of these yet? I can hardly find anything about them on the internet.

I actually just put the backcountrys on my Tacoma about a week ago. They ride really quiet on the freeway and overall seem nice. I havent taken them off road yet but I will this weekend and can give you an update. The tire is made by Cooper and has a 55,000 mile warranty which is sweet.

Just installed last night Les Schwab Back Country All Terrain 265/70r/17 with 1.75" front lift on 2011 TRD Sport 4x long boy. Great ride on highway today but this after 82,000 miles on original Bridgestone H/Ts so not sayin' much here. Not a mudder, but do pull boat, heavy trailer, travel Washington State passes in winter, and limited off-roading. Wanted a tire that doesn't sing too much on highways and give me a fighting chance when I head elsewhere or hit heavy rain in western WA or snow in passes. Other reviews? Will update with photo soon.

I just saw these tires today at Les Schwab and was interested in them. I would love any updates you or anyone else can give. I didn't get a quote. Pricing wise how do they compare to KO2's?

image.jpg TacoDan, I like them so far. Tread not too aggressive but I did lose a couple mpg from 20 to 18 (w/o boat!). Prior tires were factory Bridgestone H/T. The Back Countrys grip better, esp. loose gravel in 2WD. These are bigger tires on same rims, 265/70/17 vs 265/65/17 with 2.75" lift on front end with better stance. I almost went with 285/70/17 tires but would have required more lift on front end and back. It's a balancing act as always of form over function. Overall satisfied. Our Shoreline Les Schwab are good people and servicing, tire rotation etc. are a breeze. If you want a more aggressive look check out Wrangler, BF Goodrich.

Anyone have an update on these tires? How did they perform during winter?

Ever since I have bought these tires I have had issues. I have been to Les Schwab multiple times. Last month, one blew on the freeway and caught fire. Then just this week, two have lost over 10 psi. I got them checked yesterday, lost 5psi. Today went again said nothing was wrong and that they turned off my tire light for me. 1 minute from home damn tire light comes back on. Has anyone had issues like this with these backcountry's? Or is it just me.. Cause 3 tires out of a lot of 5 is not boding well. I will be back at Les Schwab tomorrow morning at 8 when they open

    Hello All,

I also have these tires (Back Country SQ-4)on my 2013 Toyota Highlander. I need to go over a mountain pass this weekend, and there is guaranteed snow and ice. (Low snow levels...may see snow prior to getting to the pass)

I've yet to drive in the snow with these, and am a little hesitant. I've always had studs. This is my first "winterish" non studded tired. I wish I had a chance to test, but am not going to be able to test prior to starting this 3 hour drive for a long weekend...I also know it has the "snowflake" but the fact it's not a dedicated winter tire also has me a little tentative...

Any feedback on these tires in snow and ice?
