    Love it. I've had one for 15 years and never had anything it could not handle. I've recommended it to dozens of Miata, Nissan Z and Honda owners over the years, never had anyone not like it.

    In fact, I need to ditch the other 1/2 dozen or so other wrenches I have hanging on the pegboard. o_O

    If the import wrench didn't open enough to serve the diameter of a particular filter, I think they make a size larger as well.

    Great, thanks for the color.

    How exactly do you adjust it for different sized filters. Hard to tell from the pic on Amazon. Is there an adjustment on the side?

    And does it tighten the filter as well when I put the new one on or does it only remove?

    It's spring loaded. You spread it by hand to place on the filter (not hard) then insert your drive tool once it's in place (in most cases)

    Where the filter is easy access, you can insert the drive tool and then place the wrench on the filter.

    Gotcha. Is it only good for removing filters? Can it be used to put a new one on as well? Granted it doesnt have to be that tight but I usually hand tighten then give a quarter turn with a wrench, is that possible with this one?

    I think so. I never use a tool to tighten. I can get the extra 1/4 by hand, even if a jar gripper is required to prevent slipping.

    I never tighten with a tool. I generally try first with my hands to take it off. If that fails, I use a tool. I bought the tool to remove the factory installed filter.

    I did that once, in 1969 or so. Had no choice on some old Pontiac. At least it was on a lift at the time, allowing me to get out of the way when it started bleeding.

    In fact, I bought the Lisle originally because I could not remove the filter from a 929, and all you could see/access was the bottom. No way to even get your special tool in there to spin it off!

    Tighten by hand per instructions on filter.
    Then just remove by hand.
    If you can't then no need for a fancy "filter wrench"
    Just use one of these.

    oil on the seal, spin on the filter with my fingers till there's some resistance then a quarter turn. never leaked and never had an issue taking it off by hand
